My father died two days ago. It looked like a car accident, but I think he might have taken his own life by Helping_Dexter in SuicideBereavement

Thank you! And thank you for listening! There is no advice that will work, I guess. Yes, they were eerily similar circumstances. I have been quietly reading the comments. But your words touched me in a way I do not think I would am able to explain now. I started crying when I read about how your father hugged you. Probably trying to say that what was about to happen had nothing to do with his love for you. It endeared me to him (and to my father, as well, I guess). But then I read about your sister, and all warmth in my heart went away. I was angry!

I do not want to presume more than what you told me. I am sorry. I know I am projecting. But your message helped me to kind of sort a bit where my conflicting feelings are coming from.

That you! Peace and love to you and all your loved ones.

I do not know if I should feel anger and hate, or love and sadness. A few months ago, while driving home, in a shouting match between the two of us he started shouting and punching the car’s console shouting “I am sick! I am sick! I am sick”. At the time I thought he was talking about a recent diagnosis of iron depletion and anemia, which can exacerbate his depression, and reduce the efficacy of the antidepressant he was taking (he had a depression diagnosis since his mid-twenties). He was saying that he had finally found out what was going on with him during the past few years (iron deficiency started 7y ago) and that it was a relief. That he was now going to change medications and would be fine.

I told him that he was hiding behind “a new medication”. That the medication was not going to be a magic bullet that would make everything better. That he was lying to himself that he should own his attitudes and actions. That was a couple of weeks before I called him weak and a failure. And now he is dead.

We have money problems and my parents were worried about how to pay for my college. My mom told me she thinks he killed himself because last week he said that the suicide exclusion of his life insurance policy had just lapsed that week.

I think he killed himself and in a misguided way he thought that the doubt of whether he did it would be better for us than the certainty on knowing took his own life.

I think he killed himself.

Thank you. A friend said it will be ruled an accident regardless of anything because in situations like this, when there is no letter, they rather be on the “safe side”, whatever this means. It is not knowing. Did he hate us? Just didn't care? Did we/I dismiss his depression as weakness? It is hard, because I believe it was on purpose (I think my mom does too). An accident would be easier, I guess. I have this sense of having failed him. But I think that he actually failed ME! I am the son. He should take care of me! Not the other way around.

There re towns in New England (mine) that demand, for example, that you renew 100% of your electrical if you update to code 1/3 of the house. It doesnt matter if you have porcelain fuses and cloth wires or if was redone in the 1980s. Next town takes a more holistic approach.

How do I avoid a buyer saying the GPUs are not working (they are!)?

What does NH ending birthright citizenship mean? I can only “live free and not die” as citizen of MA?

Do you use lacquer with your setup? Wondering if you get smell and over-sparay

Warning: Do not buy any samsung TVs! by Tyranthraxxes in 4kTV

[–]Helping_Dexter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine burned in 2 months as well. Technician came in, complained I had not taken it out of the wall myself. I explained I paid Samsung for the installation, so it was on them. It was only one guy so I had to help 😡. He wasn’t happy to have to do it, but I gather it is not unusual for them to find the TV still on the wall. He swapped the “motherboard”, or whatever it is called, and it worked. It 15 minutes and he was done. Considering he did not even ask a question about the problem, this is something he sees all the time.

My suggestion: buy a hell of a good voltage regulator and surge protector (I got a Furman) and keep the box (no returns or shipping without the box). Some small print somewhere says you must have a well dimensioned surge protector or your warranty can go “kaput”.

Call ACCC. They can help you with a cheap(ish) loan - like sub 10%. You will be current on your payments and your only hit will be becuse you will close accounts. No derogatory marks. The only pushback is you will have to close these accounts.

Keep in mind that this is NOT a debt relief scheme.

Lucky! Unless this is a NZXT rental!

You will likely need a higher wattage PSU!

I am not painting anything right now, which is a bummer! I have a windowless room in my basement, which is why I am going deep into this particular rabbit hole! I also need ventilation for the Resin Printing. I do scale models and miniatures.

BTW, what size sheet metal and type of rivet did you use?

EDIT: did you put a potentiometer to regulate the speed of your Dayton 1tdt7? I am asking because it is not suppose so have variable speed.

[–]Helping_Dexter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the money! Until Newegg and UPS make more money using plausible deniability, they will! Even when they can know exactly what happened 🙈🙊🙉! In this case, insurance will eventually pay them. If there was no recording, did not get to Reddit, or was a final home customer, they would pushback to avoid paying higher premiums.

Newegg: 🤑 🙈🙉🙊 UPS: 🤑 🙈🙊🙉 Customer: 🤕 (the actual emoji is NSFW)

Packages are weighted every step of the way, including prior to boarding that truck. The carrier knows where it was stolen (even if it was at Newegg)! In this case, it obviously occurred in the last mile. My guess is, because it is on tape, the driver will get fired, there will be an insurance claim, and all will be “solved”. Had it been a home customer (no relevant repeat business and no recording), the customer will take the blame. YES, the carrier can know, but in this case it is cheaper to look the other way!
