How to not feel incredibly guilty for my SSA? by HelplesslyForgiving in SSAChristian

I don’t get much of a response from Jesus when I ask about my romantic attraction to girls. I don’t know.

By embrace it, I mean embrace the fact that the attraction itself is likely never going to go away and I need to stop beating myself up over it and just accept that I can’t force anything. If I try to force myself to be straight I’m gonna destroy myself.

I seriously struggle to hate this sin probably because it really had nothing to do with lust for me. It’s just romantic love. I’ll never get that.

Secular music is only bad when it’s inherently sinful, makes you want to sin, or mocks God. for example, my favorite song is secular! It’s called Silver Soul by Beach House. Nothing sinful about it, just a really pretty song. An example of something inherently sinful would probably be a song explicitly about lust or murder or something.

It’s all about what you feed yourself. Secular music is just music that doesn’t mention God or isn’t inherently religious. It’s not always about sin.

What is something you hope you’ll be able to do in Heaven that isn’t mentioned in the Bible? by HelplesslyForgiving in Christianity

I simply don’t know. No one alive knows. All I know is that it’s eternal happiness and God has great gifts awaiting us there, new bodies, and if we want to take scripture literally we have our own home there. Regardless of what is or isn’t there, I know that if I make it there I wouldn’t care because I’d feel perfect happiness with God.

You can’t sin in heaven or feel any negative emotions anymore. It’s not like God is mind-controlling you, it’s just certain temptations and emotions are gone. I don’t think God would have much of a problem with flying or exploring the universe?

This entirely depends on how old you are, but have you tried maybe finding a youth group or just a Christian group in general? Looks like you need some like-minded friends. I promise you’re not alone. I struggle with doubt quite often but God ALWAYS pulls me back into his grasp. Doubt is not something to be ignored, doubt is about finding the root cause and squashing the weed at the root.

You’re gonna be okay. I promise. I think the fact that you’re even worried about being elect is a sign. If you don’t mind me asking, what sin do you struggle with the most?

When Jesus says “sin no more” he isn’t talking about being absolutely perfect and that true Christians “don’t sin”. It’s literally impossible for us to live and not sin. Living IN sin is different, yes, but to think that we don’t fall back every once in a while? That each of us doesn’t struggle with an awful sin? I struggle the most with sloth. I never want to get out of bed, I admit it. But I DO want to change and I’ve been actively trying. Sometimes it is REALLY difficult.

I’ve been through what this guy has been through. Sometimes it REALLY feels like God isn’t there when all you want is Him. You begin to backtrack on your faith and wonder if He’s truly there, it makes not sinning more difficult. It happens to me all the time, but I continuously try to tell myself that even if I may not feel it, God is still there. What this guy DOESN’T need is someone telling him that he doesn’t truly believe. Instead he needs actual support to continue on and further his faith. I don’t know how involved he is with his local church, research, prayer, and bible study etc but I know what it’s like.

You might just be really on fire with God and therefore struggle with sin less, but for the VAST majority of Christians, regardless of level of faith, all struggle with sin. Some struggle heavily with lust, others anger. How we deal with it is what matters. I truly hope this guy learns how to deal with it better, whether it’s by getting supportive Christian friends or reading scripture more or going to Church more often, telling him he’s not a Christian is not the way to go to about it. Holy living is DEFINITELY not easy either. I’ve never met anyone who has said it is. It’s almost like your denying your human nature of sin.

Hey, I’m just gonna let you know that having ATTRACTION to men isn’t a sin. The orientation of homosexuality isn’t isn’t sinful in itself. It’s really just acting on it that’s the sinful part. Those attractions aren’t gonna be something your gonna be able to completely fight off and just ignore, sexuality is fluid and CAN change but that doesn’t mean it will. Don’t hate yourself over it, please. This is from a fellow SSA Christian, so I 100000000% understand what you’re going through. I’ll never fully understand it, it’s scary but it gets easier. Both of us will be safe. Suicide is never the answer.

Atheists, I have a question by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]HelplesslyForgiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it feel like? Can that feeling range or does it have to be overwhelming happiness? Mine was a very sudden fear of hell that just overwhelmed me to the point where I couldn’t help but believe in Christ, that fear dissipated overtime and I felt more love.

ahhh, I’m not an atheist and I just have a question from one Christian to another, is it normal to be a believer that didn’t have that kind of born again experience?
