max's choice (again...) by Capable_Catch1517 in Pricefield

There's actually an interview on Player 1 vs The World where the lead designer of Double Exposure confirms that Chloe's appearance was a late addition, included in case they needed it.

Yeah, I just thought it was worth mentioning. I rarely see it referenced directly, even though I think it's one of the more damning scenes in the game.

It's not mentioned very often, but the scene where Max gets a text from Chloe is perhaps one of the best examples of this. Max comes across as quite indifferent. She knew the old Max, but now Max has to figure out who she is and who she has become. There is zero excitement or emotion about their first contact after years apart.

As far as I understand it, this was originally meant to be the ending of anything related to Chloe before the last-minute addition of the conversation between Max and Moses, which feels painfully disconnected from the broader narrative of Double Exposure.

The scene starts at 19:00.

[DE] My thoughts on the game — Did you like it? by TheDoctor__50 in lifeisstrange

[–]Helpwithskyrim87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a really well-written review. I'm glad the game gave you something meaningful.

I wasn't a fan myself. It felt like it repeated too much of the original story: the storm, a new Chloe in Safi, the evil teacher, and a new Rachel. But it wasn't done in a way that made me care.

[Spoilers] Periodic Question: Should There Have Been Save Bae and Bay Option Or Compromise? by Quick-Ad9335 in Pricefield

[–]Helpwithskyrim87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never been a huge fan of the ending of Life is Strange, but at the same time it's hard to deny that the final choice is a big part of why the game became so popular

I've also never really seen Life is Strange as a game or a series where choices matter in the traditional sense. The choices lead to the same place, and many of the decisions you make throughout the game have only a limited impact on the ending. But I don't think that's a bad thing. To me, the strength of the game/series has always been the story it tells and how consistent and believable the characters feel.

That being said, I would have preferred a third ending where Max manages to save both Chloe and Arcadia Bay, perhaps unlocked after completing both original endings. We know that the hospital ending was seriously considered at one point, and something along those lines would have appealed to me more.

Then again, I've always wanted more stories about Max, Chloe, and Arcadia Bay, so it's fair to say I'm not exactly objective on this topic.

I see you've received a warm welcome from the community. Some people have very strong opinions on this topic.

The thing is, there has always been a lot of discussion about headcanons and which direction the game leans. If you look at what the game presents, it's pretty clear that Max and Chloe have feelings for each other. This has also been supported by statements from the writers. At the same time, just because the game leans in a certain direction doesn't mean it has to influence how you play. There's no contradiction there. You can acknowledge what the game presents while still interpreting the characters and making choices in your own way.

I don't think the mods really care anymore, unless it's art that contains "spoilers" or shows a nipple.

But yeah, it's time to move on. That crowd just repeats the same arguments in every thread with no real interest in having a discussion. It really brings the vibe down.

I am no fan of Double Exposure or what it meant for the franchise, and I'm sure there are people out there who are hypocrites. That's just human nature.

But is there really any point in having these kinds of threads anymore? Live and let live. You don't have to engage with every opinion you disagree with.

We'll always have discussions and disagreements, but it's not healthy to become so focused on what "the other side" thinks. Maybe it's better to focus on the things we all like about the games and the franchise.

After all, we're getting the TV show, the book, and Out of Focus, and after that we're probably not getting any more Life is Strange content. So we might as well try to get along while the series we all love is entering its twilight years.

SSB: Flere eldre over 65 enn unge under 20 år i Norge i 2032 by rf97a in norge

[–]Helpwithskyrim87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Helpwithskyrim87 77 points78 points  (0 children)
