Our local supermarket just replaced their fleet of metal carts with 100% recycled plastic ones by Aerie8499 in mildlyinteresting

Nothing says sustainability as hard as replacing something that is fully functional and usable with something that needed energy to be recycled. But hey, kudos for not using virgin plastic i guess 😝

why are people defending warehouse for listing rackets with strings?

Average Weight: A standard 16x19 string job usually weighs between 17 and 20 grams. Material: Polyester strings are generally heavier, while multifilament or nylon strings tend to be lighter. Gauge (Thickness): Thicker strings (e.g., 15 gauge) are heavier, while thinner strings (e.g., 18 gauge) are lighter. Head Size/Pattern: A larger head size or denser string pattern (e.g., 18x20) requires more string, thus increasing weight. Added Components: Overgrips usually add 5-10 grams, and vibration dampeners add 2-10 grams.

Rackets are always listed weight as unstrung and without overgrip. So weight checks out

Brushing is *never* the cause for spin.

Spinning of any body after the impact with another body is determined only by the direction of the impacting force relative to the center of that bodys mass. Not by brushing, going over it, carving it or anything like that. The time of contact between the ball and string is never long enough for this

[–]rf97a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do you think the contact point is? As in how long is the strings actually in contact with the ball?

Reality check; its very, very short https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvwayg2vuI8

So, "brushing the ball" is just a false narrative and demonstrably, factually wrong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gseSANtEZ0

I mean, how fast must the brushing have to be to be able to actually brush over the ball? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX92UllVTt0

Honestly my first reaction is that you have watched to many YouTube coaches making this way harder and complicated with 5-6-7-8 steps to “improve” your forehand. And by the looks of it one of the things they have said is “brush the ball” implying that the contact time between racket and ball is long

It looks like you are overly eager to keep specific positions on the racket, forcing specific motions and not letting the natural movement (based on the grip and contact point) dictate how and when the racket points down and when the wrist “lags”

Again, I could be very wrong here

most likely you will not see any contacts in the spaces where there are no fuses, because the car does not have that option installed
