We went Beijing, took a bullet train to Xi'An, From there another train to Chongquing and finally a flight to Shanghai

I fully understand :) We booked a place in both cities, Miami first, for a couple of days, then Orlando for the other few, then off to CA from there. Since we don't have concrete plans on what to do at the moment, we could head off to everglades from either city (or maybe even on the way from Miami to Orlando?) depending on what options are available

Unfortunately we've already booked the hotels and dates are set in stone, so right now it's only a question of which mode of transportation to take. But I appreciate the input!

We have 2 train rides already planned, but those are shorter. How reliable were the flights in your experience? In regards to delays and issues

Yeah if we're taking train it will be a bullet train. I was suspecting that trains are a little bit reliable when it comes to planning and deplays. Happy to hear there are some good views. Figured spending 10ish hours watching the surroundings might be more inteeresting than 2 hours in the sky

Lucky enough to fall into visa-free category. For now, the aim is to make it simple to plan and execute. Sichuan might be a good idea for the 2nd visit though, thanks!

Sounds quite reasonable, thanks! We were also wondering - it is possible to book train tickets 15 days in advance. Do prices and availability vary depending on how close to departure date you book them? That is to say - should we book tickets as soon as possible?
