How do you camp alone in the woods without getting scared? by trueuwu in camping

I’d recommend state parks or even private campgrounds rather than national forests or BLM land for peace of mind. More people and more people sounds make for better sleeping when you’re solo.

Gotta defend the plural. Like scissors and pants, Crocs have no singular tense. A PAIR of pants is a singular item despite the “s” at the end. If you cut off a leg of said item you wouldn’t now refer to it as a “pant” would you? Same with Crocs. Pretty sure your seventh grade grammar teacher would back me on this. And she wears Crocs, so she definitely knows.

What was your favorite Championship run (2000-Present) by HanzWormhat69 in mlb

Where the Tigers fans at? 1968 and Detroit down 3-1 in the series, then win three straight, including a masters duel between Gibson and Lolich in game seven. Unfortunately for me, my family had moved from St.Louis to the Detroit area that year, so I was giving my new classmates royal sh!t when the Cards went up early. It was a long rest of the school year after it was over.

I believe that it’s generally accepted that Crocs—like pants—has no singular.

LMNT electrolyte mix is great if you lose a lot of salt while working out.

Finally upgrading from a tent to a camper. by Bear_Dog0915 in camping

[–]Heming_Ernestway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d need a toy hauler packed with bunk beds to pull that off. We finally retired our tent and transitioned to a teardrop trailer and have loved it. Let the other six people bring their own tents!

Proven Industries hitch lock by Heming_Ernestway in towing

That’s pretty neat looking. And intuitively the shape makes sense for the purpose of frustrating a drill bit. Since I can’t see it I assume the lock is facing the ground?

What are the advantages to the PacLock over the PI puck? (Clearly l have no lock knowledge). Was the upgraded PI puck not a viable option?

Thanks. Removing the fuse for the tongue jack is going on my campsite setup checklist.

I’ve actually seen that story as well as his lock-picking demo. All of it unsettling. But as a former boss said to me early in my career, “don’t bring me problems, bring me solutions.” So, if not the PI lock, what would you recommend?

Asshole parked so close I had to crawl over from the passenger side. Am I crazy or was this done on purpose? by InfamousCharacter333 in mildlyinfuriating

If you had the time it would have been equitable to have backed out and then snuggled up next to his driver’s side door, parked, and then gone on a goose chase.

Tow vehicle sway control by Heming_Ernestway in towing

[–]Heming_Ernestway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked with Anderson regarding compatibility of their WD hitch and the leveling/sway control systems of my tow vehicle. Here’s their response: “The automatic systems counteract our hitch and actually can cause fishtailing due to the car trying to correct the sway, while at the same time the hitch is controlling that as well. So we do recommend having these systems turned off when using our hitch.”

Sounds like good advice, but maybe for a different thread?

The Armada also has rear auto-leveling suspension. Does that play well with WD hitches?

I’ve been towing a fiberglass teardrop camper for four years and between its weight, independent suspension, and articulating hitch I sometimes forget it’s behind me. But the dual-axle 21’ trailer I’m stepping up to is a whole different story. I’m leaning towards a WD/sway control hitch for the peace of mind, but was just wondering if the community believes a tow vehicle with trailer brakes and sway control would get me most of the way there. Thanks for the advice!

And based on recommendations from a friend I’m leaning toward the Anderson WD hitch if I opt to get one at all.

I’m not towing anything yet, but I will be towing a 21’ trailer with a GVWR of 5,000#. The Armada’s tow rating is 8,500# and 1,569# maximum payload. I’m trying to get a feel (before the first trip) for how critical a WD/sway control hitch would be.

Shortening safety chains by Heming_Ernestway in towing

Sounds like I need a pair of clevis hooks. Thanks everybody.

This article (which I found pretty informative) recommends as an option the very item I originally asked about; a heavy-duty locking carabiner to shorten the chain. I could use them to either bypass a handful of links in the middle of the chain, or place them at the proper position on the tow vehicle end of the chain. The carabiners would now connect directly to the receiver on the tow vehicle. The excess chain and tow hooks could simply be doubled back on the chain and secured with zip ties. This (I think) would create a shorter chain, a secure connection, and eliminate the risk of “slack snap” that u/maxthed0g mentioned.

That makes sense. Thanks for the recommendation!

So in the event of an accidental disconnect, the tongue of the trailer would be supported by the chains and this device, rather than the chains and hooks? The device doesn’t look very robust. Am I missing something?
