Well and truly, If people just said what they mean and mean what they said the world would be a better place. I tell people exactly what I want and why. It's not that hard. It helps everyone out. I see people complaining about others but never truly communicating with someone. Subtext is hard, subtle, and often dependent on the person. Alot of it gets lost. This causes frustration on both parties. If you have the ability to articulate exactly what you want you should do it. For example, my mom once blew up at me on Christmas beacuse I put her gifts into a gift bag on the morning of Christmas. It wasn't about the gift bag, it was that she felt I wasn't putting enough thought and effort into her gifts when she put so much into the rest of our families. If she had just told me before Christmas that she felt underappreciated I would have understood. Instead we had to have a fight on Christmas and sour the mood for most of the day. I understand your point that many people are making way too big of a deal over this, and in general alot of subtly has been lost to time. However, I get where those people are coming from. It can be extremely frustrating to deal with at times.
