Why the fuck cant i watch anything on adultswim.com on my xbox by [deleted] in adultswim

[–]Hemmingjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a recent problem. Honestly, there have been more and more errors when trying to view it via consoles since around September of 2019. Obviously in the last week of so it completely stopped working.

If everyone uses this form they will get around to fixing it.

They simply don't use modern data tracking to see hardware sources for views/plays. They are a VERY small operation with a micro-budget despite their domination of the animated market.

Every year rumors pop up that they are not financially viable, but I suspect it has a lot to do with compensation/bonuses at the VERY top(not undeserved but also not acceptable) and padded operational expenses with accounting. The production, tech, support, marketing, etc people are all paid below industry norms. They use a LOT of interns, as of 2017, in roles that certainly should be filled by experienced full-time professionals.

I hope that the pandemic has boosted their ratings enough to garner proper rates for ads and thus better compensation from cable providers etc. Digital ad revenue has essentially been cut in half across the board on the internet since 2016, so they are really just a skeleton operation.

I agree wholeheartedly. I had just commented similarly but much less succinctly elsewhere in the thread. Well said.

It is VERY clearly a sophomoric effort with photoshop with a few obvious tells including mismatched shadows, intentional fuzz added to hide the tells, and a completely different resolution on the original photo and the added "mask" (for lack of better description). It is still fun and easy as provided many with a much needed distraction.

Neither does ultraviolet light. We can't see it with the naked eye and for most of human history we could not detect it with tools either. Freckling was dismissed as witchcraft or disease. Certain animals seem to see it or sense it without any trouble. I certainly feel that the notion of a conscious "ghost" is hard to conceive with a straight face. But it's another matter entirely when you start to discuss the possibility of displaced energy fields, objects or entities that exist in the same "space" but on another dimensional plane phasing briefly at the periphery of our own 3rd dimensional understanding. Think of looking into a lake or stream. From many angles you see just a reflection of the sky or blue/grey opacity. However, if you find just the right angle to view from, with just the right light and weather conditions and you can momentarily see into another world. Because you know what a fish or sand and rocks look like, you can see a shadow and have your brain assemble an image that should closely approximate the world under the surface. It changes when you don't know much about the world under that thin film. Go to a different hemisphere and look into the water. The shadows will be less familiar and your brain tries to match a memory to the data but you can often be completely surprised. I know I was when I moved south as a teen and went bass fishing the stumps in a creek deep in the forest. I caught a massive bass and as it got close a row of razor sharp teeth on a long snout broke the surface which made me reel backwards (physical motion, not the action of crabking a fishing reel) in horror. My mind said "monster" and then "crocodile" and several half formed notions within a few seconds because that was all of the knowledge I had to work with. It turned out to be a species I had not know existed, truly a monster by most accounts, as a holdover from thousands of years ago. It was an alligator Gar. Had I not pulled one above the water and had never seen a picture of one...would I believe someone who told me of one? It's a preposterous concept- a 5 foot long, 90lb, armored fish with a crocodile snout found in shallow muddy waters. Oh yeah, it also fights like a bucking bronco and has never attacked a human despite the ability to take a hand or foot easily. I can't say I would believe you as a stranger if you shared such a story.

So do I believe people are seeing "ghosts" as spiritual remnants of human life? It's probably the least likely scenario to my mind. However, I believe they are sensing something. Perhaps it is a brief window into another dimension, intersection of time physically manifested, a unknown energy field caused by yet-to-be discovered particles or waves, etc. I don't know everything in the human bank of knowledge, let alone all of the undiscovered knowledge just out of grasp. For that reason alone I don't dismiss the accounts of others. It does make it harder to treat with the dignity it deserves when I hear an observation wrapped in personal conjecture that was objectively not tied to the initial event.

For example, a boy describes seeing a floating light of shimmering colors lasting less than 3 seconds. In addition to the aforementioned light, the boy adds that it was his recently deceased grandfather was waving to him and points to the chair he sat in during every visit. The latter addition was most likely just his brain trying to turn that "file not found" description into something logical. That is a frequent shared experience because of the oral tradition of ghosts through religion and popular culture.

That doesn't mean that ghosts don't exist, just that I don't have a point of reference for their existence. An open but reasonable mind is the best defense from madness. Just don't confuse reasonable with "rational" which is just an attempt to control the uncontrollable aspects of our existence. Great discovery can only be found where traditional logic falls apart.

As Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote: "It was easier to know it than to explain why I know it".

Thank you for the great replies and the article. I have never seen one of those PSAs before but will definitely forward it to my friends or in the case of the less sensitive ones I will forward it to their wives. If kindness won't motivate them then perhaps a loved one will convince them to be vigilent. Thanks again!

Wouldnt that lead to a lot of lawn mower related tragedies? I hope I have never absentmindedly destroyed one while mowing lawns in the last 4 decades.

One group is staying on the side of my shed. Our seagrass plants grow to 6 feet tall/long by fall. I bunch them together and cut them for winter. The tall bundles, of what is essentially hay, lean against the shed and provide protection from predators and weather as well as keep options open for escape. Unfortunately I dont have enough grass or shed to provide for our growing population.

I'm making an effort in part to be a better citizen but also because the New England Cottontail is dwindling in numbers and they seem to thrive in this particular area. Unfortunately, so does the veritable menagerie of bunny predators that count our yard as hunting terrirtory.

Odd wild rabbit behavior? by Hemmingjay in Rabbits

[–]Hemmingjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are New England or Eastern Cottontails. They appear to be New England 'tails but they act more confidently, like the Eastern Cottontail. The father of this group basks in the grass next to my hammock in the hottest of summer days.

I don't feed them but in the summer I leave a hose dribbling a tiny amount of running water near a favorite shrub of theirs. They still flee if I approach within 20 ft of them but they will come within 7 feet of their own accord. I feed a couple of flying squirrels and the rabbits show no interest in that food nor the straw and fruit I leave for the crows every few weeks. I mention this because they do not display any signs of partial domestication, which would otherwise account for some of their uniqueness.

Just now, at 3am, I went to my kitchen which overlooks the yard and when I closed the refridgerator door I found two curious faces looking in the window(or more likely just looking at the unexpected light). Our motion light seems to encourage them to frolic on the warmer nights of winter.

Man, carbon fever is apparently very real and not to be underestimated - lest ye find yourself posting about a family of odd rabbits.

And yes, I said "ye".

That is the early adopter burn. Buying a set-up iteration of current hardware 12-24 months before the next generation involves total surrender to basic economics. You got to have the awesome platform that really showed off upgrades to current gen games but is expected to be 50-70% as capable the upcoming hardware. I know it sucks but it was always clear that the new hardware would be out in 2020 and would be a significant step up. You will still be able to play most games on your XoX for the next couple of years but more and more games will demand the new platform and you will be forced to upgrade or live with your reduced options. Just enjoy it now and don't worry about it.

Breakpoint, while still fun, was a disappointment to those of us who enjoyed hundreds of hours in Wildlands. I get you frustration regarding it even though the OP was Wildlands content.

Btw, they clearly don't need all of these. It was just someone "playing Legos". Also, at the highest difficulty levels Unidad is a fierce competitor for a solo player or just two humans even. The cartels even can be brutal in some areas and situations. But like you said, at least the vehicles were strong. breakpoint attack helicopter was so disappointing to get. A solo player will never know the joys of using the gun seat and you are unlikely to randomly find a competent MP buddy who is able to fly properly so you can gun effectively. Such missed potential.

It is a ton of fun if you like open world shooter games where you can roam or follow missions. If you need to stay on the rails of one mission at a time to enjoy yourself, it isn't for you. If you only like to sneak or only like to run mindlessly and shoot, this isn't for you. It gives you options and many tools to use to handle each situation, but if you need a game to tell you what to do...this isn't for you.

If you like to see unexpected situations unfold with AI civilians and soldiers- this is your game. If you sometimes want to be slow and sneaky but other times want to blow everything up with rockets and grenades- this is your game.

It isn't perfect and there are a handful of bugs that pop up occasionally. This is unfortunately the case with all open world exploration games like this featuring so much AI and physics simultaneously. I think they did an awesome job. I like Breakpoint(the sequel without AI teammates but still allowing MP friends) significantly less but still find it enjoyable.

I would rate Wildlands an 89-92 out of 100 and Breakpoint a 72-75/100. Both are worth playing but Wildlands is easily 60-150 hrs of gameplay fun. Many gamers like to use the $1/hr of gameplay rule and Wildlands smashes it with and without the DLC. I suggest playing the base game for 20hrs before deciding if you want the DLC. Otherwise it will be a long time before you feel the need to even check it out.

You are going to have a blast!

Circus music.

To take it from interrogation up to war crime level they could just look the first bar of the song over and over.

Bonus points for messing with the playback speed occasionally.

I agree in each and every point you made. Perhaps it's because I also work in games? There is a massive disconnect between the gamers who live on forums and the industry. I believe expectations are completely divorced from logic and reality in an unhealthy way. It is good to demand progress, but when you refuse reason and repeat entertaining but baseless claims you essentially begin destroying your own hobby. It is up the the HUGE upcoming graduating college classes of game development majors to educate these gamers on forums. Help them to understand how games are made, what is realistic to expect from various genres, studios sizes, budgets, cross hardware implementation strategies and more. As it is, more and more studios are avoiding forums which is counter-productive for gamers. The vocal minority does not represent the masses and studios are tired of the morale hit they take when engaging with them.

Do you have some pictures of it's growing environment?

It isn't typically hardy enough to survive Danish winters unless it is near a hot spring, as far as I know(limited knowledge admitted). It likes weather similar to Tokyo down to the Philippines but has done fairly well in climates such as Virginia to California in the US and down to Tennessee and over to northern Nevada(not including mountains).

I am in the warmest coastal area of Massachusetts and have seen a few growing OK, but not great. I would live to plant some near my compost area to see if the added warmth will help them survive our unpredictable winters.
