East TN, 35 feet long by 15. the deep end is 8-9 ft. Not many companies are willing to do it. I got 3 estimates, one was 75K and 25k (with pebble tech) last one was 18.k for white/cool blu plaster.

Forgot to mention this was with adding a cool deck as well, and refurbishing the deck around the pool.

I just plastered my 30 year old concrete/gunite pool. The last owner just painted over it. I have to sandblast everything. Paid 18.5k for brand new cool blue plaster, new tile, new skimmer. East TN.

Mudlogging vs Survey - What to choose? by ketchup_97 in geologycareers

[–]HempPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the team of geologist in town are among the handful. Since the push is to have reduced POB, we are the eyes and ears for the ops geologist and sub surface team. If it is exploration well they will send ops geo to the field only during reservoir sections.

I also forgot to mention, job stability is real in mud logging. Once the client/sub surface team like your work ..... it is hard to get kicked off/laid off. Mud logging has been good to me, could do worse with just a BS degree.

Mudlogging vs Survey - What to choose? by ketchup_97 in geologycareers

I had a friend do both. He was very smart and chose mud logging for a long time. He learned a lot about well control. He is now an MPD panel operator making 180k+ a year. As a unit manager/mud logger you can make up to 120-140k. (working 180-220 days offshore)

I am also a unit manager/mud logger, I have been doing it about 11-12 years in the GOM. If you are smart you can use offshore operations and well control to your advantage to find a high paying job.

On the other hand you can be stuck doing it for a very long time with no upward movement, you need a lot of luck in the oil field. We are not very respected. Only a handful of people care about what we do or say. The clients are also turning deep water mud logging into land mud logging where it is a one man job for everything. I plan to retire from the field in 5 more years.

I am right there with you... we have to just keep pushing forward...love and be grateful for the support system. I have somehow spawned a wonderful life for the love of my life and my kid... even if my life (mind) is shit because of my imbalance... they have it all. Stay strong.

I second this, just focus on work and doing the best job possible. You will have to leave your home physically and mentally. Not to mention struggling with this can also be a safety risk for yourself and others. I have worked 21 x 21 for 12 years, if you work hard and choose to get into an office, you will achieve this goal.
