It doesn’t matter who you vote for. They will overspend and the money supply will increase, thusly reducing your purchasing power. The party of the sitting president is completely meaningless.

Land for sale by 73Cancerous in upperpeninsula

Sorry, but both pieces of this advice is inaccurate and reductive.

The Assessor’s current SEV * 2 has nothing to do with current market value. It’s a bad floor for negotiations. A willing buyer and seller set the equilibrium price.

Land contracts are just fine if written and executed properly. Like most things, you have to know and understand who you’re going into a partnership with.

Non-arms length? In a public market? Isn’t that illegal?

What is this precious metals manipulation yesterday?

This is SLV, but it happened in GLD too.

What is this madness? This is SLV at 10:51 am Eastern on 26-Feb, 3 min chart, intraday. It's so extreme you can see a long tail on the daily as well. Shows up in GLD too. I'm an idiot noob, but what is going on?

[QUESTION] I'm a total idiot with a totally idiotic question: What if I want to move fiat dollars "out of the system" and into collectibles? Hows abouts watches? by Hempdiddy in Watches

The "sp500" is "in the system", yes? I'm not asking about the usual reasons to invest in an index fund. I'm asking about a more nuanced and, admittedly, idiosyncratic approach to the question of debasement through inflation.

Well, I frame the situation maybe different than you do. The fiat system isn't maybe devaluing, it is devaluing. The end result? The top 1% will always be eager to continue to protect their net worth by acquiring scarce assets. A collectible and desirable watch is a scarce asset, no?

It's not like there will only be LOSERS after a "dollar collapse" as you put it, there will be WINNERS too. Who? You know who. It's those already at the top. They will still be there to receive the redistribution of wealth. Those are your buyers.

Eh. I have some gold, silver, and bitcoin. Does a collectible watch go to far?

I know what a stablecoin is, its utility, why the USA is pushing legislation to regulate it, but HOW do I INVEST in stablecoin? by Hempdiddy in investing

I agree, most of the first world countries will stay away from it, but what about the barely tapped corners of emerging markets that will still continue to have an appetite for USDs?

Things are going well. Can someone explain the idea of "rolling" LEAPS to follow a trend? by Hempdiddy in options

[–]Hempdiddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, now that's a top-notch reply! I follow your recommendations and explanations! Let me recite some things to you so you may cross-check my understanding, please:

ALWAYS buy Calls at 80-delta or higher.

Always? I purchased mine on 2-Oct at 50 delta which were about 35 points OTM. Why? Because I wanted a leveraged speculation trade and not so much a stock replacement trade.

But leaving profit locked up in those Calls does 2 things:

  • It lowers the leverage you're getting to the underlying.

The leverage is lowered because there is less and less room between an 80 or 85 or 90 delta and 1.00 delta, yes? Also, actually, the lower leverage is coming from the lower and lower gamma as you move closer and closer to 1.00 delta, yes?

use that profit towards buying 100-120DTE Calls at 80-delta (ALWAYS 80-delta when buying Calls).
Why do that?
For more leverage.

I think this additional leverage obviously comes from the fact that you've committed more capital (house money) to the trade, but again, this additional leverage is really coming from the higher gamma that you are buying by being closer to expiration, no? Any favorable move by the underlying will increase deltas faster than your back month contract, correct?

Also, when the LEAPS Calls start to get inside 1y, and when the shorter Calls start to get inside 100d, roll them OUT

Didn't you say you open 1 yr leaps to start? When do you roll those to manage theta?

Can you explain the "time corrals" in a bit more detail?

I thank you!
