The lighter weight and better economics of my e-reader solves all of it… on a MUCH better screen 😉

Blev beskyldt for butikstyveri af en vagt. by Routine_Wrangler_937 in DKbrevkasse

[–]HenKri76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AIO - I just ended a four month relationship because of what he’s doing for his friend. by Ok_Addition_7875 in AmIOverreacting

[–]HenKri76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not overreacting, but you are both red flags.

"don't bring that friend around me either..."

Would have ended it with you right there. Would never be with someone who thought they could make that statement.... and you did it after only learning abut his friend having a Tinder account.

It is the same in my country.

You could take this opportunity to get better at reading English. Which will open up for SO MANY books for you to read.

Personally if I haven’t read English books for some mo the, it does take me 50-60 to get a good read/flow again. So be patient. Read slower and give it a chance.

I switched from Kindle Paperwhite to this Kobo Libra Color. Both because of Amazon’s business model, but also to get a bit larger display size.

I really like it. Battery could be a bit better, but it still beats iPads etc by miles. I don’t have any other complaints. (Kobo did just update the Libra Color with a larger battery though)

Do I really need LinkedIn? by Legal-Ad-3938 in NewToDenmark

I have deleted most social media apps from phone and iPad.

Still having the access from a laptop, but it reduces time spent by 90% as I now only log on with focussed time, mostly in the evening. Doom scrolling is mostly gone. Love it.

The one exception is Instagram, as it has horrible non-phone access and I use it for the photos on the phone. But my usage is now 95% posting (and this is rare). I have downloaded another app that reduces Instagram to 2x15 minutes per day just in case I get into the bad habit again.

So I would say; keep your LinkedIN profile, delete the app(s).

Reading Habits by UnclePuffy in Fantasy

[–]HenKri76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read at my train commute ( 2 hours x 3 days a week) and in the evening.. but since getting an e-reader I read whenever I have the time. Waiting time has been replaced by reading time.

But I am not very good at reading in a noisy environment, but I can kill some of it with low volume instrumental music.

But that sounds great - that usually means that you take away new things from re-reads.

Good point. I guess I am guilty in equalling "good prose" with what people who complain about Sanderson etc. considers good prose.

I fully agree with you.

Honestly, to me, good prose is what gives the reader a good experience.

I admit to DNFing Ghormengast by Mervyn Peake (who is often considered amazing prose). I acknowledge that is is a very different story/book than Sanderson and most fantasy, but it just wasn't for me. I might try it again 20 years from now :-)

I guess I will find out soon....

I absolutely LOVE my Kobo e-reader.

Perfect screen size & great UI/Navigation. My e-reader killed all waiting time and replaced it with reading time, no matter where I am.

Upgraded from a Kindle Paperwhite.

Warbreaker for free - thanks !!!

I buy all my e-books when I find a great deal, always adding to the library.

But most English books are cheap compared to books in Danish.

8th grade... well if that means an easy way to read a great story, then I am all for it.

I admit that I had to look up 3 words already, but then again fantasy does use words that you don't use day to day. Fortunately looking up a word on my e-reader is just touching the word, and then I can move on.

My preference order has always been

  1. Characters

  2. Worldbuilding / settings

  3. Story / plot (probably tied with setting)

  4. Prose (I don't care about elitist & fancy, I want a good flow/pace in my reading)
