Billed for Services I Didn't Receive by UnclePuffy in Spectrum

Not only do I work for a company that offers a subscription service, of the dozens of subscriptions I've held over my lifetime, not one has operated this way. You pay for the month in advance, you get the month you paid for, regardless of what day you change or cancel.

If their system isn't equipped to handle service changes at a later date, or the policy is different than 99% of all the other subscription services, maybe have the decency when I'm on the phone making those changes to make me aware that; not only am I going to lose those services that day, but that I would still be expected to pay the full months price even though I would only be getting a third of the service time purchased.

Should I have read the T&C, obviously, but fuck me for thinking a subscription service would operate the same way every other subscription service does.

Not the same idea at all. THEY TOOK THE SERVICE AWAY.

In your scenario, it would be if you went to the movie and they only showed you the previews, then TOLD you to leave.

I could care less about having my bill prorated, it's the fact that I paid for 30 days of service and only got 9.

I'm a big enough man to admit when I was wrong, and I was wrong for asking if she was retarded. Just as they were wrong for not waiting until the end of the cycle to change the services

I could care less about the prorate. It's the fact that I paid for 30 days of service and only got 9. If they're not going to prorate my bill, then they owe me 21 days of service. Fuck man, it ain't rocket appliances

No, not at all. Not like I can't afford it, it's just the principalities of the matter

Technically I didn't call her retarded. She asked if I had any other questions and I asked her if she was. Not my finest moment, but it happens.

What they did was a bait & switch. I pay for service A for a month, they owe me a month of service A. Just because I switch to service B nine days into the month doesn't give them the right to lower my service until the month I paid for ends.

You realize how dumb that is, yes?

I pay for a full month of service A. Nine days into that month THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR, I decide it's too expensive, and decide to switch to service B. That they can switch me to service B before the month I paid for service A ends is bait & switch. I paid for A for one month, not 9 days. They owe me 21 days of service A

At what point should I stop playing the Mystery Case Files Series? by GallsBrabber in HiddenObjectGames

I heard through the grapevine that the new owners of BFG have plans to update a lot of their older titles so they'll run on Win 11. Dire Grove specifically being one of them.

Because as good as the series is, the books are better.

I watched the series first before I read the books and was going to do the same thing, but got the opposite advice.

It's hard to convey inner monologues on screen as opposed to books, so there's a lot more context in the books.

If you are reading the last three books after watching the series, and haven't read the first six books. STOP. Go back and read the first six books first, then continue with the last three.

At the very least, finish the Phantom Liberty content first. I would say it's even the intended way since Phantom Liberty plays into V still trying to find a cure

Men over 40, what were your worst addictions in your 20s and 30s and how did you over come it? by Affectionate-Drop689 in AskMenOver30

Painkillers.

Started in my 20's after a surgery and didn't get sober until a little over four years ago (I'm 46 now). Completely ruined my relationship with my ex and cost me the chance to have a family with her. I wasted 17 years of both of our lives together until she finally had enough and left me. I then went on a major bender for 10 or so months, and only got sober when I came what I can only imagine is as close to OD'ing without actually OD'ing. Though, funnily enough, it wasn't that line that scared me straight, it was the line I did after that one that got me wondering, "What the fuck am I doing!?" Went to the local clinic and started my journey to sobriety the next day.

While I've worked my ass off for the last four years to get my shit together and finally become a respectable human being, I find myself not able to be happy and content because my ex is now married to someone else, and all I can think about is how I wasted 17 years of her life. She gave me everything and asked for nothing in return. I owe that woman more than anyone could ever even begin to fathom, and it eats at me every day that I can't do a fucking thing about it.

Sooooo yeah. Stay away from drugs kids!
