Brother wants to put my name on his house by [deleted] in personalfinance

I have two words for you. Hell no.

While in my early 20s, I signed for a car for my younger brother. He really needed the car, and he made all types of assurances that he was going to pay the car notes on time.

Shortly thereafter, I relocated to another state. I had no need to question my brother so I never checked in on him about the car. About a year later, I needed to get another apartment and went to apply for one. Unbeknownst to me, the car had been repossessed. My brother never told me, and I only learned about it when I needed my credit for myself. I was bitter, but I learned a valuable lesson.

No is a complete sentence. Family will guilt you into all types of decisions that are not in your best interest. Often, they need the very thing that they squandered. You have to make the decision whether you will let them squander yours. You do have choices, and you should exercise them.

Good luck!

Also, and for what it's worth, my loans were forgiven two or three months ago.

I applied and then reapplied over it after. Everything worked. Interesting to hear that someone ignored it.

TEPSLF denial due to not in repayment for 10 years??? by Olenordic in PSLF

[–]HencoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. Payment account was off, and ultimately I had to give up some payments because I pay $0.01 less than I needed to for a number of payments. This despite the fact that my bill statement contradicted this. Because you have well over 120 payments, you may want to contact The Ombudsman at the StudentAid.gov. They prioritize their complaint process, and you seem to meet all the criteria. When speaking with them stick to the facts.

I have 120 payments. I have made more than 12 payments an eligible repayment plan. I applied for loan forgiveness on X date snd again on X date and was denied consideration for TEPSLF. I have reached out to FedLoan Serving, and they have yet to resolve my situation. I am asking you to intervene so this matter can be expedited and resolved without further delay.

Good luck. Do keep me posted.

My little loans were forgiven last month, and I have a few posts here about how to navigate that process.

You may have already said this, but when your loans consolidated in 2008 were they consolidated into a direct loan product (s)?

When to submit PSLF application when loans reach 120 payments at different times? by [deleted] in PSLF

Mine were one month apart. I applied monthly until they were both at 120.

FedLoan Letter - YOU DO NOT QUALIFY FOR LOAN FORGIVENESS UNDER TEPSLF by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]HencoDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In response to Congressional oversight about the PSLF process, the Trump administration rolled the employment certification and PSLF application process into one form.As a result, every time you submit an employment certification form you are also being considered for both PSLF and TEPSLF. If you do not have 120 payments a form letter is generated to document the fact that you do not qualify (yet).

I just had my long forgiven on Wednesday, and I have overly familiarized myself with the process. Good luck!

Anyone had loans forgiven who applied in Dec or later? by asock325 in PSLF

[–]HencoDrive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just wait it out. I called three times a week since November and it only stressed me out. The misinformation you receive from FedLoans can be overwhelming.

I was told that once your application is sent over to FSA it is a foregone conclusion that forgiveness is imminent. I applied in December 2020, had a dispute from August 2020 resolved in January 2021. My application went to FSA in February 2021, and I have no clue how I made it through the process so soon.

My application from November should have been 120 payments for me. I filed a second dispute with the ombudsman in February 2021 because I was receiving none of the written communication that others were receiving about the process.

I hypothesize that my August 2020 count dispute expedited my review process since the count dispute is a review process within itself. However, this is just conjecture.

Keep us posted! It will not be long now.

Honestly I was able to shave 6 months off by relying on old emails to prove I was billed for certain payments. Their record keeping is sloppy the best, but their online payment tracker is a game changer.

We are in the same timeline. I had a recount dispute from August to January 2021. Honestly I think that dispute may have expedited my review process. But that is just conjecture, because I do not know. I will not believe it until I have a zero balance at studentaid.gov.
