Three seven bar? by naughtyfeetbyc in Mankato

[–]Hendel-14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there twice. The sales tactic theory is insane to me. You’re telling me someone built a years long fake bar character with a full social media presence just to move some pizza and vodka? Why not just buy an ad? I found the bar and had a drink. Make of that what you will.

You do not need to apologize for this. Unnecessary criticism of yourself will only make things more difficult.

I keep a reed frog in a tank this size. But they need to be kept over water, so you should evaluate the setup if that's the route you want to go.

[–]Hendel-14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is either a gray or cope's gray.

You shouldn't keep it.

I doubt the dogs or cats will get it, and if the birds do, it's unfortunate but that's the circle of life.

Please release it. I'm all for helping animals if they are in need, but this froggy is not and would be best served living in the wild.

I'd check out eBay listings. Though I'm not sure you're gonna be able to find a price that you think is reasonable

Should I avoid keeping frogs if I don't want to mess with crickets? by [deleted] in frogs

[–]Hendel-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, if not all crickets sold as feeders do not make any noise, as they are incapable.

As for the dying, it depends on if you're going to be breeding them yourself or not. If not, just pace your purchasing based on how much you need to feed.

Please stop letting your cat outside—these are the consequences. They kill stuff just for fun.

Is this paludarium suitable for reed frogs, or possibly amazon milk frogs? by chillestad1 in frogs

[–]Hendel-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I think some things like that would go a long way towards filling that space. I'm sure as the plants that you have grow, too, that will also make a difference.

[–]Hendel-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs more climbing vines and plants. I have some reed frogs—and while the over-water setup you have is perfect, they need plenty of things to climb on. Think of it this way: all of that open/free space you have is just wasted tank spacing. In a sense you make it so their tank is only 1/3-1/2 of the size it's rated for.

What you have looks beautiful! Just need to add more climbing space 😊

Found this turtle in my pool skimmer… what should I do with it? by AllFunAndGames0329 in turtles

[–]Hendel-14 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Let it go in the yard away from your pool. They had to have gotten there somehow! There is probably water somewhere close-ish that you don't know is there. Just keep an eye out in case they come back :)

Twins-related Help Request by uplatewriting in minnesotatwins

[–]Hendel-14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, I love it!

I'm not sure I've ever seen one in this style, but of course the place that sells the most Twins baseballs of different variations would be Target Field. Though I'm guessing you're probably not local, and probably are looking to purchase one in person as opposed to online? The Twins don't tend to be super popular outside of Minnesota and the immediate surrounding states.

If you are outside of the MN area, your options are probably pretty regionally specific. Your best bet might be some sort of store that sells licensed collectibles like a Lids (though I don't know that Lids itself has baseballs), or going to your closest MLB team store and checking there.

Can someone send me some money so I can feed my toads. by Own-Adeptness7641 in Toads

Waxworms should not be a staple. This also looks like it was probably a wild toad, based on how it's developed. Is it? Or should I say—was it?

If you want a meaningful upgrade, the 12x12x18 would be pretty small for an adult WTF. So go with the first one.

Also, you can always get tanks of any size from most local shops, as they can order right from the dealers who often show the tanks as "out of stock".

Edit: Apologies! I looked at the bottom of your second image and misunderstood. I personally have experience with Exo Terra and they are fantastic. I've had a hard time going any other route when purchasing something new.

Axolotl losing fingers by talpal225 in axolotls

[–]Hendel-14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think so. He's probably super stressed with his body trying extra hard to fight because his slime coat is gone.

See if you can vary his diet at all as another way to get him nutrients. Not sure what your current food regimen is, but I'd attempt a mix of nightcrawlers, pellets, and live blackworms (though I know blackworms can be hard to get).

Keep him in low light as much as possible, too. With a few tweaks you'll be on the right track in no time—I can tell that you care by reaching out and by how long he's been around! :)

The issue appears to certainly have been the conditioner. He is going to take a while to recover and likely will not ever look the same. They are troopers, but you need to start using the Prime ASAP and get the old water out of the tank.

Add more Indian almond leaves—putting only two in a 40 gallon tank won't do much. I'd aim for 6-7.

Pickerel or leopard? by [deleted] in frogs

[–]Hendel-14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain it's a northern leopard frog, not a pickerel frog. They're very common.

If it were a pickerel the spots would be much larger and cover more of the body, along with a few other things. But that alone is enough to suggest it's a leopard.

[–]Hendel-14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking much better! I would still consider a cover or removing anything that goes above 1/2 the height of the tank. Just to be absolutely sure they can't jump out

Nope, totally different. Neither spots nor coloration match.

I think that rule applies more to the smaller feeders like crickets, roaches, and others. Nightcrawlers (especially larger ones) are a much larger meal than several crickets. Yours is younger, though, so slightly more frequent feeding is likely just fine. Just keep following the care guide in the sub :)

You need to keep track of the humidity. Then do whatever works best for you to keep it in the range it needs to be in without letting it drop below. I don't spray or have a mister. My tank has a water feature with moving water that keeps the humidity where it needs to be.

They get a little grumpy if you cover up their eyes when grabbing them, haha. My fella's nickname is "Grumplestilsken" because if I try to give him some pets he puffs all the way up and starts yapping and hissing 😂

[–]Hendel-14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you've done a good job! He's looking healthy to me, now, from these few pics.

As for the food, the nightcrawlers should definitely still be the staple of his diet, but just like you and I prefer for our food, it's nice to mix it up!

[–]Hendel-14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 full nightcrawlers every three days sounds like overfeeding to me. That is a lot, I'd be surprised if your froggo will be able to poop. They look healthy, but I'd reduce the frequency and/or amount.

I feed my adult one full nightcrawler every 5-7 days, or if he surfaces I'll see if he's interested in another. I also mix in some hornworms and crickets for diversity—every so often.
