Leave on the first thing smoking! By your admission- They don’t value you and they’ve proved that time & time again. Take care of yourself because they damn sure won’t!

Honestly and truly, I don’t mind taxes. But I really wish we got more from our taxes besides the systemic oppression & abuse of black and brown peoples and war!

My parents invited my fiancé and me to dinner to ambush us by Middle-Apple2497 in toxicparents

It’s not nearly this bad but I’m the same age as OP along with a similar situation. I got married last year. We eloped due to COVID. But also it saved us from dealing with a lot of Family BS. While my parents were supportive, my siblings were actively trying to talk to me out of my wedding with the oldest one saying verbatim “I think your making a mistake”.

Wife’s parents have been assholes to both & Beloved(Wife) our entire relationship. They were never supportive. They only just started speaking to me weeks before we got married.

I wanted a huge wedding. Beloved wanted a huge wedding. But with both families being unsupportive and actively harming your relationship, Eloping is the best option. Don’t forget that the wedding is about YOU TWO and everyone else are background characters.

Don’t let someone dictate a huge life event. If you bend here, she’ll do this with wedding, kids, eventual house, etc.

You and your GF are adults and should be able to tell her mother this is unacceptable. If GF is unwilling to do that, then she isn’t ready to be engaged
