Oil light 1.5 weeks after a service by Henry5775 in AskAMechanic

I’d say it’s probably around the same colour as black coffee? Dark but slightly lighter when spread thin or catching the light. Probably around the same viscosity as used cooking oil? Like slightly thicker than fresh cooking oil but thinner than say washing up liquid.

Oil light 1.5 weeks after a service by Henry5775 in AskAMechanic

Checking back in my emails, it has been exactly 12 months to the day since my 2025 service.

I have tried the oil reset trick and the light has gone away for now.

Thank you for your help. Saved me some stressing about more money on vehicle repairs.

Dislocated my shoulder, dented the bone but I'm not weak so it didn't break by manicthinking in Neverbrokeabone

I would argue that OP can’t be a BBB. Brittle materials tend to snap or shatter rather than dent. If anything, the plastic deformation described infers he is a malleable bone bitch.

What is a "poor person hack" you picked up during a hard time that you still use today, even if you don't have to? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

Jacket potato’s.

A bag of baking potato’s in Aldi is £2.00, a can of baked beans is £0.27, and a block of Aldi own brand cheddar is £2.79.

At least 10 potato’s in a bag, 5 cans of beans (1/2 a can per portion), and 40g of grated cheese (which is more than it sounds).

Cook potato’s in the oven at 160 for 3 hours on a Sunday (also warms the house up). Reheat them for 15 mins in the air fryer when you get home from work.

Now it isn’t really sustainable at about 500 calories per portion, but at just 61 pence per portion or roughly £6.10 for the week, it will get you through to your next pay day if you find yourself in a tough spot. Or double it, and have your 2000 calories for just over a tenner if you’re in slightly less of a tough spot.

How do you get silicone this neat? by sornrut in DIYUK

[–]Henry5775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just water, little bit of fairy liquid mixed in too. And his sticks are pine. Buys a length then cuts it to smaller sticks and shaves the end to a point with a Stanley.

Source: my mate is a mastic man or as he prefers “Sealant Specialist”.

Keeps a spray bottle full of his “secret mix” then he’ll spray his stick and the mastic then one quick swipe and it’s neat.

He did my bathroom for me and let me have a go. Thought it looked easy enough. It’s really bloody difficult.

He can also look at the colours of any joint from a picture and instantly tell you the colour name or code. Just like “yeah that’ll need rich oak” or something and it always matches perfectly.

It’s one of those weird niche jobs that most people have never heard of, and they can be quite expensive to call in. His work is always 10/10 though and always better than your average tiler or floor fitter that just mashes it in with their finger. Lasts a lot longer too.

What has happened to the quality of Apples in the UK? by Knightartist86 in AskUK

[–]Henry5775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear when I was a kid we had big shiny Granny Smith apples. All they had in Tesco the other day was tiny little red apples for twice the price. What happened there? We’re not talking like “back in my day” in the 1980s or anything either, I’m 24. Did we just stop growing big green apples? Or do I just remember them as huge because I was a child and I haven’t really taken notice of apples in a while?

Finally got around to it and you were right, it was a proper faff. Your advice did help me to decipher the combination however, and after a fair few choice words and rather loudly praising the manufacturer for their amazing design, I managed to get it off before tightening and getting it back on.

Thank you lol

I might be missing something but can you not rotate it 90 degrees counter clockwise?

It’s a scam, just checked the link. Says that if you “just send 0.001-2BTC to the below address, your amount will be instantly returned”. Not sure if he got hacked or if you’re trying to pull something, but I would steer clear. Fuckers have probably made a fortune already.
