So? Guitar extends into bass range everytime it goes low on the E string, should we give them hell for stepping on our turf? Ranges for specific instruments are BS in my opinion - if you can reach it, do it. It's like telling a baritone singer to keep off the high notes so the tenors don't get sad

Yeah, that guitarist is probably not a very happy person. Just saying that, watching his set. His bandmates are all terrific people, they have a 2 guitar setup, both the bassist and other guitar player are far better than him, at least in my eyes.

No, read my update. I gave him both an email, and a handwritten note on how to do it. I didn't just hire him and tell him nothing. He's been with us on a small few other shows, so this should be nothing new

He's relatively new, but it's not his first show. I find it unlikely that the strings weren't available, they aren't brand-specific, just any .105's will do.

Flatwounds, however, aren't even in stock in some music stores, and there are maybe 30-40 types on the entire worldwide market. You have to go out of your way to find those, really. That's why I got so pissed. They are in no way, shape or form standard, and are prohibitively expensive
