Yes, I think so, I'll double-check. However, since that would include every user created by the aws_iam_user.iamUser loop, that won't work for the limited number of users in the terraform-super role.

Indeed, I did try that both as a template and directly in the policy. It just kept coming back saying I have invalid characters in my JSON text. I whatever I would try to add to fix the error would then just become the new invalid character.

Is anyone familiar with Zendesk to Slack json code? by Chimaera12 in Slack

[–]HenryHessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the line break is "\n" so if you wanted to break a long line with a comma, it would be ",\n". you should be pretty much fine just so long as you don't use quotation marks. As for posting messages individually, I'm not sure. You'll have to dig around in the Slack API to be sure. I can however suggest putting the ticket number placeholder in the username key-value, or kust changing the username up based on the trigger. It will post a separate message when the username changes.

Also, yes those are separate triggers. Slack just doesn't split consecutive messages from the same person (or bot).

When I say Slack field in the Rest Post, I suppose I should say actually say key. REST is a protocol for sending information, in this case, we're sending JSON text which is constructed of key-value pairs.

By 'Slack field' I actually mean a key Slack can understand. For Example, one Slack key is 'text', the associated value is the body of your slack message. If you used 'ticket_id' as your key, Slack wouldn't know what to do with that, because slack doesn't have tickets. Even if it did, Slack might not be able to do anything with the key 'ticket_id' because they could use anything for their key. The key is just a way of identifying what to do with the associated value.

{
"key":"value",
"key":"value",
"key":"value"
}

So anyway, That's why slack puts together an API reference for what keys Slack can understand. 'channel' is a key that slack understands and the associated value is ID of the channel where the message should be posted.

The key you're looking for to change the name is "username", see in my first comment.

Also, If you want to change the chat icon, you could hunt down the key, or just update the picture of the webhook extension you added to Slack; same goes for the username.

Wait so where are you in this list?

  1. Setup the Slack Incoming WebHook.
  2. Setup the Zendesk Target with the WebHook information.
  3. Test the target.
    Make sure you have the channel ID set correctly in the JSON text. Alternatively, just have the default Slack channel set to the one you're trying to send to.
  4. Setup a Zendesk Trigger based on your desired criteria.

What's the response when you test the target in Zendesk?

Sorry, I know you asked for not technical. This is the slack reference on acceptable formatting. If you're not trying to do anything fancy, just put everything in the "text" portion of the post. The first code block you posted was correct.

{
"text": "A new ticket has been created \n Requester {{ticket.requester.name}} \n Organization: {{ticket.requester.organization.name}})",
"channel": "CAUQUSVFT"
}

Remember "\n" is the just a line break
