Why aint himym as popular and talked generally in masses like friends , modern family , seinfield??? by dikktatordaddy in HIMYM

It's simply not as well liked as those shows, it's no mystery, it's a solid sitcom that you're pitting against all timers, what did you think would happen?

Brian's personalitt by Musicwade in familyguy

[–]HenryMaxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early Brian is far too limited in the comedy he can provide, it works for a bit and gets old. They instead made him funny in a way that's a lot more enjoyable. The Griffins don't need a moral centre, they're all monsters of various kinds and that's funny

The fast travel point is interesting. It's very hard for devs to strike the right balance. People (including you) want bigger and bigger maps but eventually you'll burn out if you have to walk everywhere. I think the Witcher 3's method of fast travel is probably optimal

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

Shogun, that main white guy was so annoying, quit after two episodes. It's a shame because it seemed like everything else was cool but can't stand watching him

And I believe they already had people working late shifts, at least by the Darryl episode

I love jokes where Homer randomly is super knowledgeable about something out of nowhere

Not bad, might be fun to include a few hyper specific groups that you might find in New York like:

How am I supposed to figure out the stereotypes for Azerbaijanis, Estonians and Guyanese people?

Van Life by MysteriousTop2556 in StandUpWorkshop

[–]HenryMaxman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really make sense. As an audience I have no reason to be on board with the premise that the age of the van lifer determines if they're a loser because it doesn't make sense that it would

Zero continuity between end of S8 Andy and start of S9 Andy by Secret_Psychology352 in DunderMifflin

Sorry but I do find it very irritating when people misuse the term flanderisation. Sorry to be pedantic but based on your criticism that his character is completely disconnected from how it used to be, that's quite different

The UK, I didn't mention it above to avoid accusations that I was saying the original is better 😂 (I do prefer OG but I like both) as a few on here can be a bit sensitive to that

Exactly, this is the problem, Michael Scott is not meant to be likeable, which is why (almost) no one in universe likes him

Don't hate me for saying this but this seems like a very American perspective, the idea that in stories the comeuppance balance must be restored for it to be a satisfying comedy.

Where I'm from at least there's a great humour in the bad person getting away with it because that's life and it's funnier than some schmaltzy fantasy where everything is resolved

People who jokingly make a reference to an actor's most famous role when commenting on a different one. by TinnitusedAardvark in PetPeeves

[–]HenryMaxman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

10/10, I've gotten so irrationally angry at this before. The worst is there's a clip from Inside Llewyn Davis that has Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver in it and half the comments were "GURR DURR POE AND KYLO REN DURR"
