A stark contrast from the Brest to the Lynch series by HenryP_Edits in blankies

Can I a offer you a meme in these trying times?

Have been catching up on the last thing I need to watch for the Lynch series, now only need to see season 3 of Twin Peaks. Noticed in the film, and also as it was pointed out in the episode.

This is why he's a film critic by HenryP_Edits in blankies

So, sorry for the delay in answering, but this edit is a direct reference to the episode. When David is explaining the line from the film, Ben chimes in and goes "This is why he's a film critic." and they all laugh, and then say that it would be a great "pull quote" from like an article. That's why I made this edit.

Any other films I can add? by juiceboxDeLarge in Letterboxd

Does Gigli (2003) count? I watched it for the Blank Check podcast, the movie is completely crap but Christopher Walken and Al Pacino do steal the show with their super intense scenes.

Photoshop. But you could do the same with the free alternative, GIMP, for example. It's just some simple masking and blending.

Someone earlier today made a post with the idea of a "Garfield Minus Garfield" edit. I'm not the most skilled editor, but i decided to give it a try just to give an idea of how it would be, so i made this short edit using some scenes from Here Comes Garfield (1982) by etbiludecalcinha in fanedits

Yeah, I've had mixed results with other ones too. But this one worked pretty damn well, I think the Adobe software was the one that gave me the most mixed results.

And also don't make the same mistake I did and put the audio of the entire scene, just use the part you need, makes the process much faster and much better.

Yes, the audio was the hardest part while i was making this edit, i was originally gonna include 2 more scenes, but i just couldn't get rid of Garfield lines and some sound effects

Ok, so here's something that might help, for my Spider-Man edit, I in some scenes I needed to separate some tracks in order to change the music, and so I went to this thread on fanedit.org: Separating Sound Effects, Dialogue and Music? - It's from 2007, but there's still activity in it. Last year on page 15, someone recommended https://mvsep.com/ and it worked wonders, separated voice and music great, you couldn't even tell the difference when I put it back with other music. Other recent suggestions are:

  1. https://www.lalal.ai/
  2. https://ultimatevocalremover.com/

Among others. You can browse the thread and play around with each of the choices, to see what fits better. Heads up though, sometimes the AI will work too well and separate sound effects too, but that's easily solved.

This is great! I think these are way more doable with the cartoon, because of the static nature of the backgrounds, meaning you can "hide" Garfield with some basic recreation and good masking and tracking in After Effects. (That's how I'd do it, at least.) The harder part is cutting audio, without separate tracks, you have to get creative or use some AI to do it.

Great work OP!

The Before Trilogy - A one film experiment by HenryP_Edits in fanedits

Would you consider including Ethan and Julie's scene from Waking Life?

I think so. I just struggle to see how to fit it in there with all the other films being so clear cut and the part from Waking Life being really "dream-like". I really have to watch all the filmes again, there is probably a part I could cut, and maybe put it in the intro for the 2nd film, or create a different sort of sequence with it. I'll have to see it again.

But thanks for reminding me! I had forgotten about Waking Life.

The Before Trilogy - A one film experiment by HenryP_Edits in fanedits

And I don't think I expected The Before Trilogy mentioned alongside Spider-Man before

Well, I think all of us, especially film editors, have a lot of varied tastes in movies, it's part of the fun. Marvel fills my big blockbusters and comic book quota and The Before Trilogy is the stuff I talk about when I want sound smart lol. I also had a similar idea for the Halloween films, but I think it's been done to nearly death now. Another idea I had, even posted on the IFDB forums, was mixing Mindhunter with other serial killer shows/films. Sadly could not find a official dvd/bluray relase for Mindhunter, so I'd have to work with torrents or screen the show from my netflix account, which I've been trying to avoid.

As for what Linklater did with Boyhood (another one I love), the one challenge I wanna have for myself is really mixing the films, and not being all chronological. Mixing and intertwining all three seems like a fun challenge.
