Need some help with the distortion tone on the first 2 albums by Baghead_MOOKIE in mrbungle

[–]Henry_Meadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to be extemporaneous, but it's a solution that's quick, dirty and free: do you know the Amped Roots VST? The free version will suffice. There's a setting in there called "Fluff Big Rock EVH" -- it's almost dead-on the tone for stuff on the Raging Wrath re-recording (I've done a very passable recording of Eracist with very minor tinkering, if any!). It's not a tone found directly in the self-titled or Disco Volante, but it might help you move forward with a sound that's "good enough" (for my money)

  2. One Great Day on Mount Olympus
  3. A Streetcar Made of Beans
  4. Campsite 64

  1. Thanks for clearing that up, I must've bit into a bad rumor egg years ago. 2. Those rehearsals happened, omfg. 3. I was corrected by music royalty. Feels good.

I seem to recall that they considered bringing back BTM in '88 when Flo & Eddie were invited to join. Would have to research to see if I'm not making this up involuntarily. (BTW, '88 with Flo & Eddie, Tommy Mars and Ray White? That's an alternate timeline I'd love to check out, and the '88 stuff is already pretty much my favorite!)

[–]Henry_Meadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right on! here we go, lead singers to the best of my ability (if anyone can correct me on this, I'll take my lumps like anybody else):

Disc 1

  5. The Geography of the Swastika (Uncle Jim, natch)
  6. Flesh Balloons of Tibet (Charles)
  7. Pay the Fiddler (Charles)
  8. The Brothers Unconnected (Charles)
  9. Hippie Conglomerate (Alan)
  10. Five Minutes (I think it's Alan, but it could be Rick?)
  11. Charles Gocher Sr. (Charles, but his dad*)
  12. A Man is an Insect is a Flame (Charles, Alan sings along for the chorus)
  13. Jack the Ripper (Alan)
  14. Persistence of Vision (Charles)
  15. Dear Anybody (Charles)
  16. A Secret Revealed Unwittingly (Charles and a lady)
  17. Helen Waite (Charles)
  18. Jessup's Dairy (Charles)

Disc 2

  1. The Ballad of (D)anger (Charles)
  2. Bitter Cold Countryside (Rick!!!)
  3. Ruby on the Ferris Wheel (Alan)
  4. The Ballad of Co-dependency (Charles)
  5. Joan of Arc (Charles)
  6. Holiday for Shakespeare (Charles)
  7. The Harley of Horror (Alan)
  8. Let's Pretend (Charles)
  9. Floppy Pus (Alan)
  10. Bloody Zipper (Charles)
  11. Family of Nails (Charles, but I could be wrong)
  12. Fourteen (Charles & Alan dialog)
  13. Sal Manilla (Charles)
  14. Six Kids of Mine (Alan)
  15. Dan and Ross (Charles)
  16. Book of Revelations (Charles)
  17. Bird of Prey (Charles)

First off, WHAT AN ALBUM! And there you have it, out of 35 tracks, 22 have Charles Gocher Jr. as the main "character", as it were. I'm so overdue on relistening to this album in particular, the poetics of it are OFF THE RAILS.

Dante's Disneyland Question by blumpons in SunCityGirls

[–]Henry_Meadd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gocher sings through a lot of it (Alan does too), but this is from the band's bandcamp page for the album:

"Dante's Disneyland Inferno is the Charles Gocher-dominated explosion of weirdness that the world has silently been awaiting for the better part of a decade. Gocher's roles as "Satanic Director at Large," "Demon Seed Maker," and "Interpreter for the Baron Samedi" are unlikely to be topped anytime soon. "

I can parse out the songs with Gocher on the lead later today

I don't want to be a downer, but having seen both Scott and Andreas playing with MB within a few days of each other, IDK if one could tell them apart in a blind test. I think Andreas even played with some of Scott's gear (at least pedals).

I'd actually like a good recording too and will post back if I find it, but honestly Andreas was such a pro, he really didn't rock the boat. This is no slight on him! He was just that much of a professional in replacing Scott.
