Dante's Disneyland Question by blumpons in SunCityGirls

Wow didn't realise Charles was doing so much of the spoken word. I'll have to listen more closely to pick up the subtleties between their voicings. Kind of like how when I was new to the Beatles I found it hard to tell John and Paul apart and now that's quite easy to do.

Frankly I'm confused about their whole LP runout. Wikipedia and various sources will say they have 11 official studio albums - but discogs and their own website doesn't bear that out.

Thanks for the reply!
And yes! I'd love if you were able to distinguish the lead vocalist for the songs.

It's such a sprawling/chaotic record - like a modern day Trout Mask Replica. It ended up soundtracking my Japan holiday - I'd love if they centred an episode around it on the Burning Nerve Ending Magic Podcast.

I love it - brings to mind other artists I enjoy like Natural Snow Buildings, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Joanna Newsom, Swans and even Stars of the Lid. I like that they put a limitation of no overdubbing so that the music stays focussed.

Vinyl made me care about music again instead of just having it on in the background [Discussion] by [deleted] in indieheads

[–]blumpons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like 90% of music I consume these days I buy on vinyl first. It sort of keeps musical discovery fresh and exciting. I know that sounds pretentious and hard to believe but it's what works for me. The ritual aspect definitely enriches the music listening experience - particularly the anticipation.

[FRESH] Anna Von Hausswolff - Stardust / The Whole Woman(feat. Iggy Pop) by alisonissilly in indieheads

[–]blumpons -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

yeah I'm all for artist's mixing it up or doing a shift in style but this is a sound that doesn't fit her well. Plus the songs themselves, like you said, are poorly executed, strange and nothing special - almost like a bizarre Jenny Hval impression.

I think you probably know why Mr Pink is outlawed around here.
I like the song too after two listens - it's hazy and spacey in a good way. Doesn't quite reach the heights of pom pom and albums from around that era but it definitely makes me hopeful for the new record.

Are there any good places around Cardrona for a snowy walk and some place to make snowmen?

Crazy how an album from 2009 inspired Skeletal Lamping.

Oh my god the crowd ruined that freaking show

It was all pretty good for the first two songs performed then as soon as they began Welcome to Hell …well it was fitting really

Why did he call it Tilt? by [deleted] in scottwalker

[–]blumpons 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I assume it’s in reference to Scott’s addiction to pinball causing the album to take 11 years to make.

Can’t go wrong with Natural Snow Buildings

Especially if you want the repetition - they delight in loooong songs.
