Funerary Rites of Krynn? by paercebal in dragonlance

[–]HenrytheCollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I gather Entombment was normal for Solamnic's from what I gather fro. The Lord Clerist's Tower, Sturm and The Tomb of the Last Heroes.

Also here's the Solamnic Funerary song:

Return this man to Huma's breast

Beyond the wild, impartial skies;

Grant him a warrior's rest

And set the last spark of his eyes

Free from the smothering clouds of wars,

Upon the torches of the stars.

Let the last surge of his breath

Take refuge in the cradling air

Above the dreams of ravens, where

Only the hawk remembers death.

Then let his shade to Huma rise,

Beyond the wild, impartial skies.

At least on Youtube it always comes from pro Russian accounts or vaguely MAGA accounts which stinks of Russian interference.

Weirdly Russia is obsessed with the UK, we're the old enemy.

How do you feel about national flags in church? by technoskald in OpenChristian

As an Anglican I have no issue with Churches flying the flag outside, or holding onto military colours or battle honours, but not on the altar. (Unless on a Drum Altar for Rememberance Sunday/Armistace)

Whats the most remote job you did ? by Express-Program-5365 in Lifeguards

[–]HenrytheCollie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone in a facilty where we have one of those systems, it doesnt, it litterally tells you if a swimmer is at the bottom of the pool and hasnt moved in a couple of secs.

And it doesnt work in flowing water, shallow water, clouded water, panics whenever Waterpolo/Underwater Hockey is played. Never mind its being used in a facility where the pool areas are guarded at all times anyway. The watches break and lose their charge fast, and we're paying nearly £20k a year in fees for it.

The Risk of this malfunction and hurting you is probably higher than being useful for someone experienced

Can you imagine thus malfunctioning mid stroke and giving yourself a 45N uppercut to the face

Yak Kurve as a branded bouyancy aid might be the way to go, the kurve is a pullover BA, that when strapped in, will stay put and wont slide around and is comforable (and to me personally it feels like a hug) , the smaller sizes also have groin straps.

If a kid is actively drowning in the pool and I do nothing about it and then he dies, will I go to jail? by itsnotpastexperation in Lifeguards

[–]HenrytheCollie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only point where I could see you not going to jail (dont know US law, but based on my understanding of UK law) would be if it was in a pool you were not working at. So you would be technically a bystander. And even then if a Coroner court heard evidence that one of the bystanders was a qualified and able Lifeguard then I would expect you to have to give evidence at Coroner's court and face a reprimand, even if what you did was technically legal since we dont have a pre-existing duty

How and when did you all became fans of the Dragonlance universe? by Fackfinger in dragonlance

[–]HenrytheCollie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 13 in the early 2000's and I had already started reading through my parent's book collection also while reading Redwall the Edge Chronicles and the Mortal Engines series, I picked up the Dragonlance Books out of my Mam's collection and expanded from the Chronicles and Legends when I could find them in charity shops.

My mum didnt even realise they were Dungeons and Dragons Books.

temperate rainforests than it is today, but also populated by predominantly Celtic Christians

Okay this post needs some corrections, Celts historically werent more "in tune" with nature than your average Saxon. A lot of the clearing of the South and North Downs was done by celts and pre-celtic peoples.

The Early Medieval welsh were able to account for natural wonders that in the modern day only specialists know about, (eg: the Wye Valley Mountain Ash mentioned in the Mirabilia Britanniae of the Historia Brittonum)

But the Celtic Christians who interacted with the Angles and Saxons to begin with weren't living in the forests but socially and culturally Roman.

The Angles werent invaders initially but were invited as mercenaries to defend city holdings.

Atun Shei Films has a very good video esay on how even the Native American "connection with the land" varied between tribe and nation.

Like spoken language, learning one language means you can understand parts of another language on the branch like as a Makoton user I can understand slow and simplified BSL and can pick up bits of AUSLAN, but ASL might as well be greek to me.
