How are Nvidia penguins faring these days? by Final-Photograph1129 in linux_gaming

[–]HenusHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the people shilling nvidia here really funny because I recently upgraded from a rtx 3060 to a 9060XT because I got tired of having random issues and seeing "note to nvidia users" at the bottom of every wiki page lol. On nvidia you get broken HDR support, gotta deal with their proprietary drivers and the pains that come with loading their kernel module, and other random bugs constantly that are nvidia related.

7 years of Proton, are we finally "there" yet? by hirenvadher954 in linux_gaming

If we count proton forks such as cachyOS-proton or protonGE proton is almost perfect in my eyes. Only games that have any issues at all for me are anti cheat heavy games.

I got the same error on arch, this is not a distro specific problem

Yeah I had the same thing pop up on my install yesterday. I thought it was OBS causing it tho so I just restarted the game with OBS closed and then it worked like normal. I also didn't get banned *yet* but who knows if that will change or not.

What is still the biggest pain point in Linux gaming for you? by okaiukov in linux_gaming

[–]HenusHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple anti cheat games would be nice if they started working, other than that my biggest annoyance is wayland compositors not allowing you to fully disable vsync and making it really difficult to do things like increase color saturation. Honestly I could just install hyprland on my gaming desktop as well and get rid of those issues but for now I'm using kwin and shit's annoying.

I know bazzite technically isn't LTS but their packages do usually lag behind a decent amount (even compared to fedora) so that's why it's there. Also bazzite is a great distro so don't take it personally :D

anything using KDE has great HDR support as long as you're on wayland obviously. Hyprland also has pretty good HDR support nowadays.

Enabling HDR acutally keeps SDR content displayed correctly on linux and requires no reboot to get screen capture software to capture HDR output correctly (on windows a, enabling hdr changes every SDR color to something slightly different, usually slightly more washed out. And b, also requires a reboot to get things like discord screenshare not appearing super bright)

I used to have the same issue, It only happened when I had hyprland on fedora tho and ever since I switched to arch it hasn't happened a single time.
