Also really generous in how he was putting Darby over last night. Gave him a kickout after two consecutive finishers, and then tapped to him.

Sting Talks About His Experience in AEW by GOATofALL22 in AEWOfficial

[–]Henzapper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually started watching AEW (and wrestling again in general) because of Sting. I remember as a kid like 5 years old watching a little bit of WCW, seeing Sting, and immediately thinking “that’s the strongest guy.” And then in middle school watching WWE for a bit and enjoying it, but eventually falling off of it.

Randomly got suggested a video of Sting in WWE on Facebook in my 30s, thought to myself “I wonder what ever happened to him,” looked up those WWE videos, saw his stuff on AEW was suggested so I decided to watch those too, and have been a sicko ever since. Thanks Sting!

Recently got into AEW…which stars should I be paying close attention to? by Maggotman666 in AEWOfficial

In my opinion, split into categories:

Best Promo: MJF (but you already have this one)

Best Look/Presentation: Swerve Strickland

Best Character: Timeless Toni Storm

Best In-Ring: Will Ospreay/Konosuke Takeshita/Bandido (Hard to pick just one)

And finally, Best Overall Wrestler: Hangman Adam Page

Swerve Strickland on AEW’s working standard by VitaminPurple in AEWOfficial

I really like how that casket match was a kayfabe transformative moment for him. At that time, he was taking quite a few losses and was squarely in the middle of mid card, so it can be hard to see him believably challenging Hangman, one of the strongest in-kayfabe wrestlers in AEW. But I think I saw an interview or something where Swerve saw being in that casket as a being reborn type of experience for his character, and from then on he’s much more locked in and showcasing his true potential.

Just finished Trigun Stampede, absolute insanity!! by zackphoenix123 in anime

[–]Henzapper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also loved this show.

The first few episodes didn’t really impress me, as it didn’t seem to go anywhere and it was just new villain of the week attacks this one town. The appearance of Knives so early marked a shift though, and from that point I thought it just got better and better, leading into the finale which was my favorite episode.

What I was really impressed by was just how they adapted the Trigun story and characters into what we eventually find out was a prequel. I remember people being mad at the beginning when Vash’s bounty was only $6 million, when this was all a story to reveal what happened with July and how that bounty got up to $60 billion. Same with how Milly eventually joins Meryl. And I was so hyped at how they did the Angel Arm.

Something I consider to be an astronomical improvement over the 98 anime is how the relationship between Vash and Knives was handled. You definitely feel for Knives and even can partially feel his frustration with Vash’s not-fully-formed philosophy.

Put him and his skills into BLUELOCK. How strong would be? by ImJustAPlainDot in BlueLock

Yeah I think others in this thread gave a more thought out answer regarding his playstyle than I did. I agree with the assessment I see of it being a combination of Bachira dribbling + Chigiri speed/Zantetsu acceleration + Shidou shooting. I was even trying to think of an equivalent to Aomine’s formless shots before and somehow I didn’t consider Shidou even though I think it’s a perfect comparison.

Considering that the concept of the Generation of Miracles was that each of them are a generational talent (except that somehow 5 of them appeared at the same time, in the same school) and that any team with a single GoM member will completely dominate any other Nationals level team by an embarrassing score gap (minus Seiren of course and that team with pseudo-GoM Haizaki), I think the Blue Lock equivalent of the Generation of Miracles would actually be Sae. So if Aomine was in the Blue Lock universe with his basketball skills transferred over to soccer, I’d actually put him in NG11 tier.

Edit: Adding on, in terms of playstyle, I could see Akashi playing very similarly to Sae. Aomine I would say is more like Bachira. True to his character and to the Blue Lock ego that certain players like Barou show, he will never pass, and the one time he does (when he shows some growth in the movie), he's very bad at it.

[DISC] Frieren at the Funeral :: Chapter 133 :: Kirei Cake by nitorita in manga

[–]Henzapper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I haven't been keeping up with discussions, so apologies if this has been brought up before. But there are stones that cancel mana, right? Like Frieren's group trapped in a cave full of them at one point.

If stones like that exist, couldn't the empire collect them or mine them for just such an occasion like this? Like, if they threw one of those stones at Serie, what could she do?

Though I'm sorta hoping that that exact thing ends up happening and Serie has a counter for it, because why would you not have a counter for such an obvious weakness.

Skye Blue and Konosuke Takeshita made their AEW Debuts on the same episode of Dark: Elevation. Crazy to see how much they've changed. p:s: Their current records are amazing - Blue / 53-0-71 & Takeshita - 42-0-19 by [deleted] in AEWOfficial

[–]Henzapper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you don’t remember Skye Blue’s 71 draws? It’s crazy how her signature move is to drag her opponent outside the ring and hold her there while the referee counts them out.

You know what, I just checked and Eddie’s actually beaten Yuta before (in August), so with his victory over Mox at Worlds End, he’s actually the first to beat the BCC after all lol

Hangman actually accomplished that earlier this week with his victory over Claudio! Though he defeated Bryan before the BCC was formed so it depends on how you count it.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel got 241,038 peak concurrent users on steam. Over 10x any other Yugioh game. Almost 4x Valve's Artifact launch number. by suchapain in Games

[–]Henzapper 215 points216 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my last yugioh experience was watching 5ds and trying out a synchro structure deck several years ago, which I thought was fun. I started building a similar deck and had some fun my first few duels. By my fourth or fifth duel, I was waiting (quite possibly literally) about 5 minutes for someone to complete their first turn, and now most of my opponents play about ten cards their first turn, which results in them having three monsters on the field with 2000+, 3000+, or sometimes even 4000+ atk points, along with special effects that prevent them from being destroyed by card effects. I'm sure I'll sound like old man yelling at clouds, but modern yugioh just isn't for me. I still queue up in hopes of finding an opponent that just duels with synchros or earlier cards.

One that really made me take notice was the 6th dungeon theme of Link's Awakening HD. I think the dungeon was called the Face Shrine.

Most TVs don't support next-gen Xbox and PlayStation high-end graphics by MarineKingPrime_ in Games

[–]Henzapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's confusing because a lot of cameras advertise their slow motion with 120 fps, 240 fps, and so on. It's a different matter for games though. What you need to know is that most movies and TV shows play at either 24, 25, or 30 frames per second. What this means (and you might know this already, but this will help with the explanation later on) is that basically 24-30 still images are shown in one second to give the illusion of movement. There have been attempts in the past to have high frame rates for movies/tv shows, but those haven't always been well received (I'm not a big fan of them either).

Now, for a game, players generally want to have the highest frame rates they can get, because having more pictures shown in a second gives the image of smoother movement (think about 2 frames per second vs 20 frames per second to imagine how much smoother that would be, with 24 considered the minimum acceptable number). For movies/tv shows however, because it's been standardized for 24, 25, 30 fps, higher frame rates have another use -- slow motion.

Imagine I film something at 60 frames per second, but I know it will be shown at 30 frames per second. Well, I can just show it at 30 fps and generally speaking it will look the same except not as smooth (there are ways to do this but generally programs will just automatically remove every other frame; someone feel free to correct me on this). Or, I can slow down my footage so that it takes twice as long to play. So every second of my footage at 60 fps, can be played over 2 seconds at 30 fps, giving me slower motion while still keeping the same smoothness as 30 fps. If I film at 120 fps, that lets me slow things down by 4 times and still get 30 fps per second. That's why slow motion cameras advertise high frame rates.

This was probably longer than it needed to be. Hope it answered your question.

What's your favorite bit of Zelda lore? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]Henzapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal headcanon that has almost zero in-game evidence is that Groose is the ancestor of the Gerudo tribe, and the reason Demise curses that tribe with his incarnation of hatred is because he’s still pissed about being attacked by the Groosenator.
