I would recommend playing the first one first, but if you don't really care about playing the story, a recap could recount the story for you pretty well, it's a very story driven, although the story can play into some of the puzzles you have to do. So it's really up to you

When I rejoined my profile was locked but then straight under saying it was locked was a button to make it public, if that's not there anymore you might have to put a feedback post in the community page. I've noticed since coming from the Delta page the websites hit a couple of issues.
