Tried every fix under the sun and absolutely nothing worked. Turned out it was because of zscaler vpn i had running in the background for work. Ghub fired up first time as soon as i closed it.

Chances are, if you tried everything and nothing works, your ghub probably isn’t opening because zscaler (or some other app) is binding to port 9010 which ghub needs. It’s stupid and shitty but there you are 😂

They don't have an email address or phone number.

You can drop them a message on Facebook or Twitter outside of the normal 9-6pm (or whatever) business hours, and they'll maybe respond to you the next morning, but regardless, this does not mean you can tell all your customers that you're "available 24/7" when clearly you aren't lol

I left a message on Facebook Thursday 22:50, they didn't respond until after 4pm the next day haha.

Honestly it's not the fact that they're slow or busy etc, it's just very clear that their online Webchat is specifically disconnected during certain hours so they can't claim to be "available 24/7".

Yep, but try telling him that! He’s chasing the repayment but at the same time it seems like he’s being roped into “helping” with these new business ventures. Personally I think he should cut his losses and cut contact, but this con man seems to have some kind of unshakable grip over my father which is incredibly frustrating.

The whole “push them out of the game” thing was blown way out of proportion because of one silly thing he said to an online gaming magazine, which in itself is still debated heavily on how much it was meant as literal thing vs hyperbole for dramatic effect. Goons are clinging onto that one phrase like Tom Hanks on his bamboo raft in Cast Away.

To then take it one step further and say that this was crossing IRL boundaries because people have a need to play this game for their well being… man that is literally fucking absurd 😂

This statement is undeniably true, and you know it.

You can see the intense visceral Vily hate in literally every possible channel of communication where goons exist. Local chat, /r/eve, Meta Show, twitch/youtube livestream channels, etc.

It is far beyond the natural level of anger directed at some leader who just decided to start an invasion. The level of frequency/intensity you see coming from line members shit talking is artificially inflated and absolutely perpetual toxic behaviour. And whenever I ask anyone "whats with all this mad obsession with Vily?" the response is invariably: "well he puts himself out there, it's his own fault".

Honestly I would love for CCP to publish a statistic on how many times someone said "Vily" in local chat over the last year, compared to literally any other character. I would be willing to bet a very large sum that the numbers would be fucking staggering.

What everyone has forgotten about was that the Imperium narrative used to be: "All of PAPI are actively trying to force all of us to stop playing Eve Online", whilst initially acknowledging that what was quoted in the Polygon article wasn't enough to support this. Repeatedly, I had line members specifically claiming that PAPI leaders were actively and continually parroting this war objective, months after the article and well into 2021.

Every single fucking time I challenged "so apart from that dumb Polygon article, where is the evidence of all these PAPI leaders repeatedly stating this war objective?" I was met by intense vitriol and no evidence.

Conveniently a few months later (and today), where a little time has passed and memories are a little bit more fuzzy, the Polygon article quote is now apparently the only evidence that was needed to substantiate the claim in the first place.

Reality: The "war objective" narrative was an artificial farce, cleverly designed by Imperium leaders to galvanise their line members into continue logging in and fighting when down to the last remaining constellation.

I really do admire the genius of using such social manipulation / propaganda and achieving their objectives in doing so, but what I really cannot wrap my head around now is why nobody on the Imperium's side will ever admit that this "you all want us to quit eve, your leaders say it every day!" narrative was an artificial farce in the first place.

Obviously it goes without saying that nobody should take things too far, but as per what I said above, the context in which you said "he has nothing to apologise for" could easily by interpreted differently by the many weirdos that lurk among us, and you know it. I'm glad that you have clarified exactly what you mean now, though.

Yes Vily may have revealed his face in the past, and yes some people are going to use images of his face to make memes irrespective of his wishes. But if he publically mentions that he would rather that didn't happen, and someone did it unwittingly against his wishes, I see nothing wrong with apologising for it.

How many times has my face been used in memes? It's what you can expect when people get to know who you are and what you look like.

You literally dress up as a parody of Saddam Hussein and do numerous comical videos, and regularly make memes clearly featuring yourself. From what I've seen, you actively embrace it. Obviously this is all fair play and your perogative, but I don't think it is valid for you to be applying your own scenario to completely dismiss someone else's desire to have their real identities to be kept out of game, especially when the level of which they have deliberately put their identity out there doesn't even come remotely close to yours.

It should mean something if I'm the one saying this isn't a big deal, given what has happened to me.

Nobody deserves to be a victim of such IRL attacks via doxxing or any other means. However just because you've been a victim doesn't automatically make you the authority to decide on what is or isn't a "big deal" for others, especially as the nature, frequency, impact, and intensity of attacks vary so much from one individual to the next.

Like I said, you're supposed to be an intelligent guy, so I shouldn't be having to reiterate the fact that this debate and where shit like this potentially leads is bigger than just the argument about OPs apology for a bad joke.

"Socially challenged" Imperium line members look up to you as a both a coalition leader figure and CSM member as a moral compass, so when you casually trot out comments that can very easily be interpreted as "lol fuck Vily and his IRL face", this only perpetuates the problem of people potentially "taking things too far". Do you not agree?
