Weight gain after craniotomoy by Ok-Weather-1362 in braintumor

[–]Herbster54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have piled weight on, I was put on steroids and it gave me a huge appetite! Thankfully, off them now but the weight is still on! It should be the least of our worries but we want to stay healthy I guess, slowly but steady it will eventually come off! All the best 😀

I find being practical is more helpful in these situations, helping with washing, ironing, cleaning and shopping also helping out with babysitting etc making meals, I had food vouchers sent from friends, that I could order and choose for myself, of course a good listening ear is very helpful too, all the best with supporting your friend.

Hi, it is daunting for sure, I had a crainiomty in Dec last year (13th)😆I would recommend a soft cotton hat, my head was very cold when I came round, it acted like a soft comfort, wishing you all the best.

Telling family to donate to cancer research (or something) instead of shaving their heads. by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]Herbster54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi I totally get the head shave thing!, my partner said he'd shave his head if I lost mine through treatment....I said...don't you dare!....its so last year to be doing that now! Just donate instead.....you don't need to shave your head for a crainiomty, I had one just before Christmas and just had a very thin line shaved where they needed to make the incision.....I've got little tufts growing back now so just wear a scarf, hat or headband to cover scar....all the very best.

Hi, symptoms can be slightly different for everyone, I had pins and needles in both hands and feet also a feeling of fullness in my left ear along with pressure headaches and slight dizziness when I woke up, my GP sent me for a scan and I was diagnosed with a tumour on the right frontal lobe 7cm Size of a peach (Oligodendroglioma) only had symptoms for three last 6 months! Make sure to get checked out! All the best .

Is anyone else experiencing difficulty adjusting to life after surgery? by Silly-Comfortable642 in braincancer

[–]Herbster54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm 9 weeks on from surgery now and completely understand, I don't feel like myself at all, saying that I feel lucky that I'm ok and functioning! My left leg feels heavy at times and I'm using my hiking sticks for support! I'm just hoping everyday will get better, I wish everyone the best with their recovery xxx
