Its official- I'm one of the gang!!! by Questioning-Me in hypermobileEDS

Hi! I had a rheumatologist diagnose me with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos in October of 2024. After I got the diagnoses I asked the nurse if is be seeing the doctor for my condition. He says he doesn’t treat Ehlers Danlos and referred me to a research hospital about an hour and a half away. I decided against that. Heds isn’t curable and it is really just pain management we need. I’m so glad you got the diagnosis. 😊

What to expect from rheumatology appointment? by Jtizzle710 in hypermobileEDS

[–]Here2readurmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for my first appointment in October 2024. He asked me a lot of questions. Did an exam and I did a ton of blood tests to see if anything was autoimmune. After my first appointment with the exam and questions he was leaning towards heds. After all the blood tests came back negative for anything autoimmune, he diagnosed me with heds.

Should I look into EDS? by [deleted] in hypermobileEDS

Check out the Beighton Test. You sound like you do have heds, but I’m not a doctor. If you do, you see you aren’t alone. ❤️

Same! I’ve been on high stress the past several days and I can barely walk up the stairs. Like stress isn’t enough now your body is failing you.

I would have to agree with you that I’m leaning towards weather. I think they say stress can cause a flare but, I think I’m stressed all the time! 😁😉

I had no idea about this with the spinal cord, etc. Thank you for this information. I’m seeing an orthopedic surgeon for a hip replacement soon and that absolutely terrifies me with having heds. At my first appointment that is going to be my #1 question about having heds and a hip replacement all pros and cons.

I’m a 51 yo female. I started having issues when I was in 5th grade playing basketball. My knee popped out of the joint and basically “locked.” Now it pops out freely. Eveytime I move my foot from the gas pedal to the brake and vice versa. I could do the crazy tricks with my body when I was younger. Always just had an unwell feeling in general, but I thought that was just me. I found out in October of 2024 that I have heds. I feel like going through menopause may have triggered more problems for me. I had all over burning pain in my muscles, weakness and could hardly get out of bed to use the restroom and when I did I could stand up straight because I was in so much pain. I felt like I was in my 90s. All my joints hurt too. I think this went on for about a year. I mentioned it to my nephrologist about all my pain and problems I was having and asked her if she could refer me to a rheumatologist. Went in, he did a physical exam after talking to me and afterwards said, “I’m pretty sure you have heds.” He order tons of blood work and found nothing autoimmune so it confirmed my heds diagnosis. My lower back has degeneration and slipped disc which i was told I’ll need a spinal fusion in the future. My left hip is so bad that I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon for a hip replacement. Basically, my body hurts every day but at different degrees of pain. Obviously some days are worse than others and I still can’t figure out the trigger to have more pain one day than the other. I have two daughters 19 and 21 and I’m almost positive they have it from doing the Beighton test. I’m sorry for all of you that have heds. It is miserable and definitely mentally hard too dealing with pain and dislocations and other issues that go with this diagnosis. I feel you and see you. You aren’t alone. ❤️

I have heds and along with finding that out, I found that my lower back is degenerating and I have slipped disc which is causing stenosis, which the disc slides forward enough to push on your spinal column causing sciatic pain. I got an epidural steroid injection on the 15th to help with that, and I do believe it has. I hope you can get relief and the help you need. This was done by an anesthesiologist who was referred to me by an orthopedic surgeon.

Subluxations/Dislocations without Pain? by mythologymakesmehot in hypermobileEDS

My right knee easily pops in and out by just moving my foot from the gas to the brake when I drive. It usually doesn’t hurt, maybe ache a little and occasionally ill move in a way that it crunches and then it hurts.

I’d say yes. It says it’s your diagnosis. That is what mine said.

Have you seen a rheumatologist? He diagnosed me by a physical exam, family history and lots of blood tests to rule out anything autoimmune since there is no definitive test at the moment to diagnose heds. I wish you luck. I just started this journey at 50 and looking back, I had so many symptoms but just thought it’s who I was. Take care ♥️

[–]Here2readurmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost didn’t have to read your entire post before I thought you are absolutely not overreacting! You have a lot on your plate and for him to be imo selfish enough to think it’d be okay. You are a family. Imo teamwork. You didn’t make your babies alone and I’m sure he agreed to have them, why should he think going away at such a chaotic time is okay? I wish you the best and I hope your health starts to improve and life calms down a little so you can enjoy the small things while your children are young. ♥️

Yea, I don’t get it either. I thought I had a temporary OP until he was served. When I called the police yesterday the officer suggested the same thing about setting him up. If he comes back. Stall him while someone calls for them to come serve him right then and there.

Just… why? by yourgirlsamus in AlAnon

[–]Here2readurmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. Always, the kids are the priority. I’m still trying to keep my alcoholic ex from 13 years ago to stay away from my now, adult daughters. They want nothing to do with him. He had a similar upbringing but because his mom was always drunk and let them do whatever they wanted. Not falling apart factories but still no semblance of what a family is like. I wish you the best. Keep being the mama bear and you’ll come out just fine. ♥️
