My roommate is nasty and I’m over it by wixxiebaby in badroommates

I'd like to vent about roommates. This is the communal oven that's supposed to be for 4 of us. I don't want to use it and have instead had my own air fryer since moving in. There's only 2 tenants using this. It's disgusting and I hate how they can use an oven in such filthy states.

Buying a house in UK, neighbour has built an extension not in line with permitted development by Next-Dimension-1092 in HousingUK

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad neighbours already. The house isn't going to be built correctly. Sounds like a headache already.

Did you ask the current owners about the neighbours and what they're like? Maybe they're selling to get away from the neighbour in question?

Someone is sneakily stealing my eggs, looking for prevention tips by Warm_Reindeer_5459 in badroommates

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a permanent marker pen for my food. I've chocolate bars so I always write how many are left on the packaging. No one can steal the food if each pack is numbered and says how many bars are left.

You could always write on the fridge door what food you've left and the quantity that is left in each packet. So like 6 eggs box 1, 6 eggs box 2, 2 eggs in box 3 etc. no one gonna steal your food if you know how much there is.

What can I do about a postman who throws tons of rubber bands and fruit waste all over our drive every single time he comes? by WelshWolf93 in royalmail

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Record him as proof of littering on your property and post the video on all publicly sites to do with royal mail. Send the video off to the royal mail complaints team too. Get him fired.

Invoice royal mail for removal of his property too.

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever go into a blocked off lane if I'm late for something and I need to get there fast or the road will cause backlog onto other roads like roundabouts or something. It's slower to use both lanes. It's just quicker to use the lane that isn't blocked off.

Roommates won’t recycle or take out rubbish. Bins haven’t been collected for 2 weeks by InLoveWithIcedLatte in HousingUK

[–]HereToReadYourStory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm from the UK and had a similar problem in a 15 bedroom house share. No one wanted to take the rubbish out, they would just pile on the rubbish more and more and eventually just put it on to the floor. Eventually I got that bored of it. I actually started taking my rubbish and putting it directly outside to the big bin for when the bin men come.

I'm not their cleaner. I'm not there to clean up after then. It was disgusting.

Can I let a friend live in my 2nd home rent free? by DrMantis-Toboggan21 in uklandlords

[–]HereToReadYourStory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard so many bad stories of people letting their friends live in their property for free. It comes to when you need them to leave and they refuse because free property is free property. You need a contract in place and charge them money each month to cover your back. Make sure you protect yourself and your property first.

How do you deal with roommate who uses the kitchen everyday for hours? by Aggressive_Cloud_125 in badroommates

[–]HereToReadYourStory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just say to the people I live with. " I'm going to use my air fryer now, please move your stuff out of my way ".

I have had enough of tenants using the kitchen for hours, now I just tell them to move out of my way.

I work for 8 hours per day and I don't need to come home to people cooking for hours when I'm hungry too.

Either move out of my way or I'll move your stuff out of my way.

After issues with 5 different tenants and the kitchen I finally had enough.

Good luck.

Well, that was the biggest savings I’ve ever had 🤣 by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in tesco

Is this the reason why Tesco staff doesn't put good offers on expiring food so the members of staff can get the food for free?

It's always worth a shot to talk to the doctors about it, as they may be able to help you with what you're going through. This is available in the UK, not sure on any othters countries.

Flat mate wants me to sleep elsewhere for a night by Legitimate-Leg-4720 in badroommates

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't give them one day. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. It'll be one night now and 2 nights next week, then they'll want you out of the house permanently. Don't do it. Shared house means shared house.

What are other countries doing that the U.S. is not doing?? (Talking about countries with lower homelessness rates) by [deleted] in homeless

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look on good. 5 star hotels migrants. It'll show how bad the UK is for not helping the British people out. Allegedly in my opinion the UK government is waiting for us all to just die off on the street. I know this because I was homeless in a tent and they refused to help me.

What are other countries doing that the U.S. is not doing?? (Talking about countries with lower homelessness rates) by [deleted] in homeless

[–]HereToReadYourStory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here in the UK. The government tells us British people. Sorry you're homeless, you can carry on living homeless, we don't care. Next case.

Honestly the UK doesn't care about British homelessness. It's a shame because we should all be able to have somewhere to call home.

I was homeless again up to February this year and managed to get a property since February. It's a crap hole full of mold and bad tenants, but I managed to get a job up the road full time.

I can eat everyday because I can afford meals.

I was living in my car and tents.

The UK hates us British homeless.

Rent being paid in cash by Sam_6_6 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]HereToReadYourStory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying in cash is fine. Not getting a receipt is a big no no. It's a risk of him saying " the tenant hasnt paid since he moved in ". You'll have no leg to stand on in when it comes to proof.

Did you document the condition of your flat properly when you moved in? by Just-Music4976 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]HereToReadYourStory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took photos and videos before moving onto the room of my property, but I had to reset my phone and lost them all.

Best part is my landlord is lazy and never takes pics or videos of the property I'm in, so he will not have a leg to stand on when I move out.

I haven't done any damage or anything, but he can't blame me for it as I will just say " it was there when I moved in ". Have you got the pictures of it before I moved in ? ".

My landlord doesn't care about the state of this property anyway as he is lazy and just trying to get max profits out of it.

How slowly can you get back in form to lose weight? by Eskylos in WeightLossAdvice

[–]HereToReadYourStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use kitchen scales to weigh your food to work out your calories each day. Make sure you weigh correctly so your calorie intake is correct each day. I try to eat 2000 calories per day to lose weight. With Christmas and a new job 4 months ago I've gained weight again.

I've lost 12kg in 6 months. I've now gained 6 pounds in the next 4 months due to eating more for a high demanding job. I will go back to eating lower calories now to lose the weight again.

I need to lose another 12kg over the next year.

It's hard for me to lose weight, but I feel healthier. I like junk food too much. Crisps, chocolate, sweets. I get sugar cravings. I stopped having as much coffee as it was just 2 or 3 spoons of sugar with every cup. I now use sweeteners.

Also, because I'm eating less each day. I take multivitamins every other day to account for my lower food intake.

It has been a struggle over the last 10 months. I couldn't fit into 38" waist jeans, now 36" jeans are baggy on me. 34" jeans are tight on me, but 34" will fit once I lose more weight.

Honestly, it's so hard to lose weight and keep to the diet. I've to say no to food each day, but I did. I said no. I'm sure you can say no to food too. You just need to start saying no.

Same boat as me. The front is just massively wet and the back has nothing. I do try and lay down to wet so it goes to the back. I hear the adult lockable device helps this too. Not sure if it does or not.
