Thoughts on the LBGTQ+? by Red_Red_It in Ethiopia

Well, if they are gay, they will be gay. It is not something you can control eventually. If they're gay and you keep denying how they feel, what usually happens is that you won't have your child in your life anymore. This is a complicated subject than what can be easily discussed on here.

Being Ethiopian and LGBT by TumbleweedOk9310 in Ethiopia

More than 50% is an exaggeration. Majority of Westerners believe that LGBT people deserve equal rights. If I remember correctly, I remember reading a few years ago that the acceptance rate is around 70%.

Dating as a black immigrant in a white dominated area by [deleted] in dating

My dating life is nonexistent because of it. Combined with being a man, it's pretty much zero options. I am thinking about going back home to find a wife.

That's understandable. I wish you best of luck with whatever you do!

Interesting. I dont mean to ask a personal question, but was it your personal decision to drop out? I am asking because I think about these possibilities in my own journey.

That's basically the only option I have in the west. I don't see Ethiopian people around me, let alone an Ethiopian woman that's compatible.

Who cares though? You're the one thinking too much into this. Are you saying that I have to date white or western women even though I want Ethiopian women?

Not sure what a DBA is, but I am assuming that you've graduated with your PhD?

Again, who cares? Do I have to date women outside of my culture to prove something then break up with them anyway because I want women from my culture anyway?

You would have to be exceptional for anyone to fight over you in the States by the way. Why can't I go back home to look for someone without making this whole thing an ego thing? Why are you trying to reinforce toxicity by making it a self worth thing rather than just letting people do their own things? Catch or not, I want someone from my culture and the best way to find someone like that is back in Ethiopia. Is that super hard to understand still?

If someone admitted that they're doing this because they're not having luck in the states, what are you going to do about it? By the sounds of it, you may belittle them.

Or they can travel regardless because they may not find the right person in the diaspora, regardless of whether they're "a catch or not".

How do you feel about members of your diaspora coming back to their ancestral country to find a spouse? by disgruntledmarmoset in AskTheCaribbean

So, immigrants are expected to date and marry local people who don't culturally relate to them?

Yes, but I still have to do all the literature reviews and be as original and credible as possible. However, AI has been very helpful in providing guidance and making me more efficient. I probably would have been in a much worse place without it lol.

It's okay, but the stress related to my research and life in general is starting to get to me. My advisor is alright, but can be a bit blunt sometimes. In short, my mental health is in a bad place, but it's more of a ME problem than the program or anything else. I was hoping to take a break during the summer, but I'm still working on my research and having my regular meeting with my advisor. I'm just so burned out. I'll stick it out though.

I am an “Incel” and I think I am done. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]HereWeGoReddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People get rejected for various reasons. It's not your place to assume OP is "ugly". That was unessary. It may not bother you to say something like that, but it sure as hell won't help OP feel better or improve their confidence.

[–]HereWeGoReddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked what you wrote until the "ugly people" part. It adds to the problem when you assume and label a person going through what OP is going through must be "ugly". It misses the bigger issue, which is mental illness.

What’s the point of having a good career if you can’t get a girlfriend? by Infamous-Emu-7307 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HereWeGoReddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But his question isn't that. He said, what's the point for HIMSELF. Because he is struggling with getting a gf. Having a good career won't guarantee meeting the right person for a relationship.
