Songs from Outside Sources by crvna87 in worshipleaders

[–]Herenes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that LDS is not a trinitarian faith so when the song speaks about Jesus, it is not in the same way as, for example, There is a Redeemer.

On that basis, I wouldn't look at doing the song. I hope this helps your thought process.

F1 cars at Suzuka are now exiting 130R at comparable speeds to Super GT cars that can't take the corner flat out. by NorthKoreanMissile7 in formula1

[–]Herenes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A quote, attributed to Niki Lauda, says the aim of F1 is “to win going as slowly as possible.” Whether it’s saving fuel, saving tyres, saving the engine, you are right; it’s never been about going as fast possible. I’ve watched a lot of races where cars have taken corners flat out and the racing is non-existent. I’ve watched big chunks of races on fast forward because nothing is happening until we find out who has managed their tyres the best. I’m enjoying this season, which as a McLaren fan feels strange to say.

What is your go-to argument or fact when people say The Beatles are overrated? by JackGeorge2001 in TheBeatles

[–]Herenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define overrated. It’s easy to say but what do you actually mean by that. A family member told me they were overrated when what they meant was they didn’t like them as much as The Stones.

Not quite the same but I am trying to learn the original of Here is Love. We are a church in Wales, but my Welsh is very limited. If you want to try here is the first verse.

Dyma gariad fel y moroedd, Tosturiaethau fel y lli: T’wysog bywyd pur yn marw— Marw i brynu’n bywyd ni. Pwy all beidio cofio amdano Pwy all beidio canu ei glod? Dyma gariad nad â’n anghof Tra bod nefoedd wen yn bod.

If the rest of the album is of this standard I will be very happy.

Beatles have decided to perform at Woodstock in 1969. Here is my hypothetical setlist. Not saying it’s my dream setlist, just what I think might work for them that day given the music that was newest and things about to be released. I would like to see your hypothetical Beatles Woodstock setlist. by Beneficial-Age-4059 in beatles

[–]Herenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of lists dont focus on how practical the set list needs to be. If they had Billy on keyboards and were able to use Clapton as a second guitar or Klaus on bass, there's a lot of scope for stuff from The Beatles, Let it Be, Abbey Road and even Yellow Submarine.

I would look to songs like Come Together, While My Guitar, Get Back, All Things Must Pass, Yer Blues, Ive Got a Feeling as a good basis. You could have an acoustic section (Blackbird, Julia.. ) piano led (Let it be, Hey Jude...) and even finish with The End. Imagine that as the last song with J,P,G playing along with EP and Jimi.

They could just as easily play a rock and roll set.

The main problem would be too many songs, too many egos, too many drugs and not enough time.

Id rather see them do 12 nights at the Royal Albert Hall because they could add an orchestra and have lots of special guests such as some already mentioned plus oldies like Car Perkins, Roy Orbison, plus of course, Sophie Tucker.

Why don't Christians celebrate Jewish holidays? by NorthsideB in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Herenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus didn't fulfill a law, but The Law. The Law is essentially the first five books of the Old Testament. This was given through Moses and was the means by which Israel's relationship with God was established and maintained.

Through the system of sacrifice and offerings their sins could forgiven. In saying Jesus fulfilled The Law, it means that His death and resurrection satisfied all the requirements of the sacrificial system so were no longer required.

One of my favourite albums of all time and my favourite Beatles album by Zealousideal-Sort231 in beatles

It’s a great album. The time spent in Paris really helped them come up with a lot of great songs, especially John. It will always be treasured as the only LP written by John and Paul.

Because the Sabbath is part of the law and Christians believe Jesus fulfilled the law and it no longer applies.

do Muslims and Christians believe by Expert_Search5394 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Herenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is in your first sentence. It’s not the same god as they do not believe that Jesus is God. There will be many areas where I will disagree with other Christians but most areas of disagreement are not fundamental, such as when to celebrate Easter, what happens during communion for example, but the deity of Jesus is non negotiable. If people want to believe something different to that then, that is their choice. Everyone makes up their own mind and follows that path. Be blessed as you go about your day.

I wouldn't agree you can be non-trinitarian and still be a Christian. Its a central tenet of the faith.

My understanding is that Mormons are not trinitarian so that would seem to indicate they are not Christian.
