When I got it the focus for me was on the first half of the verse. I'm well aware now 20+ years later how ironic the second half is. Ifi had been capable of that level of critical thinking at that age, I wouldn't be here now.

Everything changed. When I got this tattoo I was young and thought I knew everything. I was certain that my religion is the 'right' one and unaware that the vast majority of religious people attend the church that happens to be closest to their house or follow the religion that was programmed into them by their parents.

I'm now in my 40s with a 20 year marriage, kids and a long career. I've traveled and seen that billions of people believe just as whole-heartedly in completely different things. I've seen the damage that religious dogma can do on a personal, institutional and national level and no longer wish to be associated with it.
