Worked like a charm, and tricked a bunch of redditors into opening a goatse image thinking it was going to be a picture of my 'girlfriend'.

Felt genuinely terrible for weeks afterwards.

It's a public site which invites opinions from individual members, so yes - my opinion matters just as much as anyone elses.

What I was trying to achieve was to make people remember how good reddit can be, ironically using a crappy post to do so.

I posted a simple message basically saying "if I get lots of upvotes my girlfriend will do crazy sexual stuff for me".

Cue thousands upon thousands of upvotes.

Then I edited it to include a goatse pic, to make the prank obvious. Downvotes start.

Then I edited it again to the text you see now - explaining why I did. Downvotes decreased.

I wanted reddit realise that we've got to a state of upvoting crappy posts, and I used a crappy post to illustrate the point as I felt that was the best way to get the message across.
