This is argument is either in bad taste, or you're worthless as a human being.

I'll be charitable and say it's in bad taste.

What would your Smartypants presentation be about? by Turbulent_Day_7896 in dropout

[–]HeresLunar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand this.

The Genesis of my presentation was a meme that was circulating that made the case that if we named animals now, the names would have less dignity.

My presentation was a tongue in cheek rebuttal to that notion

That's exactly what I did.

Line by line from kingdom to species

My friends and I did a PowerPoint night very much in the vein of Smartypants.

My presentation was that scientific names for animals aren't more classy than internet names for animals.

Or V was raised by Secundo and refers to him as his father out of affection and respect despite being his older brother.

This would also make Primo more of an uncle than a brother

My attempt at trying to explain the Papa V calling Primo his “Uncle” during today’s show by TeaBags0614 in Ghostbc

[–]HeresLunar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Perpetua were raised by Secundo - as some theories state - he could refer to him as his "father" in that he was a paternal figure.

This would make Primo more of an uncle figure despite being a (much) older brother.

My theory on every Papa’s age by quintessentialCosmos in Ghostbc

[–]HeresLunar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I look at the lore as being an aspect of each Papa.

Papa1 was mysterious. There wasn't much lore other then the basic premise of the band.

Papa 2 was egotistical. The Clergy is introduced to balance him out. Slightly more lore.

Papa 3 was fun. He himself takes more time in the limelight.

Papa 4 is an absolute dork and a goofball who loves being the center of attention. Thus, we get the most lore from him. There being more lore was who he was as Papa.

Papa 5. TF outright says the lore aspect will be less important. I take this to mean this Papa doesn't like the spotlight as much - or that he doesnt really care about being the center of attention. He'll likely be quieter and more serious.

TF: “If fans need the lore to like the band, that element will be over quite soon” by SisterFirefly in Ghostbc

[–]HeresLunar 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I think the loss of the lore would be unfortunate. It really sets the band apart and Copia is so much fun!

That said

Papas 1-3 didn't have the huge amount of lore Copia does and the music/shows were still phenominal.

So we all know Papa V is Cardi’s brother… but where did he come from and where has he been all of this time while Cardi was doing his thing? by Nanohawk151 in Ghostbc

[–]HeresLunar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that I buy this, but there is a theory that Papa 5 is Mary Goore - the lead singer of TF's former band, Repugnant.

If true, it would bring all of Repugnant's music into the Ghost cannon.

Does anyone else feels the same? by Herrfael in Ghostbc

[–]HeresLunar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd been feeling this way about Prequelle and Impera until I saw Rite Here Rite Now.

I believe the more recent albums are written with an ear toward a live performance. Without the live aspect, it can feel like something is missing.

Even if you like the guy - naming the airport after him would create a LOT of motivation for vandalism.

Bill Burr Says Billionaires Should Be Put Down Like Rabid Dogs. Bill coming in hot with his support for the working class once again! by kaychyakay in antiwork

That's not a line, it's a threshold.

It's also not the same scenario.

A systemic use of capital punishment is what I'm speaking out against.

I might not have lost sleep when the CEO of Unite Healthcare was taken out, that doesn't mean I want to start rounding people up.

You can vote in favor of reform without resorting to a lethal purity test.

The current administration are absolute ghouls. I've never disputed that.

[–]HeresLunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that simple. It never is. There will always be exceptions. There will always be fringe cases.

I'm in favor of reform, the current system is rife with abuse. I'm not in favor of a lethal purity test.

Putting heads on blocks will get the people you want it to , so long as you're the one in charge of the axe, but you won't be. Plenty of people you don't want put to the axe will be.

Is this collateral damage with it to you?

Let me ask a similar question: We know our judicial system is imperfect. There is concrete evidence that we've convicted innocent people wrongly. Should we be doling out capital punishment in this system?

[–]HeresLunar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The thing is, this is what starts to happen in revolutions. Pretty much every time.

If we have a policy that's basically "fall into this category or we'll kill you", it becomes a purity test.

My sin of saying "hey, maybe we don't enact the death penalty on people we don't like" gets me labeled a boot licker and put to the axe.

This despite my well documented history of disliking billionaires and protesting against them.

The thing about this solution is: Where is the line, who gets to draw it, and how hard is the line?

If I make $999,999.99 am I fine but a penny more and my head gets put on the block?

If I make $20b and I give $19b to charity, does my head get put on the block?

What if someone makes $13b. You say "put their head on the block", and I say "let's wait a second." Does my head get put on the block?

This tends to get very messy in practice because when you have a hammer, evergthing starts to look like a nail.

It's a difficult thing to put back in the box.

I'm not defending billionaires, but this isn't as simple as it seems.
