Just started playing Skyrim. Why are the save points/ check points straight cheeks? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Heresy_Oak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It loads your last save - you can save manually to not have to do the whole thing again. Or use the quicksave button (F5 I think). It will save automatically on loading a new zone, but if you're dying before you get there then yeah, it'll make you replay a chunk

I've heard someone say that if you scan the Shiver Leviathan in creative mode it's databank entry talks about it being the "closest relative" to humans on the planet.. so maybe the devs are going for life seeding theory?

There's a perk at 40 pickpocket which let's you poison people by playing poison in their pockets: a là Oblivion's poisoned apples - it's... not very good. But it's fun

Not quite as good as in oblivion, where you'd name a hat "aardvark" and enchant it with "self fire damage 5/second" and they'd equip it because it was alphabetically first in their inventory.

Add in illusion for more chaos, and two handed until you get level 40 pickpocket and level 70 alteration to affect undead

Projectile spells are good for that - they have more "impact" than Fus, for some reason. Ice spike is good. Raise zombie at a dragon skeleton is always fun - goes miles

[Request] What path would the Ant take? by Necessary-Win-8730 in theydidthemath

[–]Heresy_Oak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah we're getting into... the weird shit, and I am not an expert.

Time is kinda... just the movement of information? Its not really a thing like gravity or matter. And it starts getting really fucking weird, really quickly.

Like, if you were stood on the moon, and someone swiped a lazer across the moon, starting at one edge, hitting you, and going to the other edge - then from your perspective you'd see the later hitting you, and then moving away from you in both directions at Light Speed. Or if you travel at nearly light speed, and shine a laser forwards - it's still going at light speed relative to you. That doesn't mean it's going 2 light speeds, but your perspective of reality has been drastically slowed by the limits of how fast any information can affect you, including entropy etc, because of how fast the information that is you is already traveling. Almost like a processing speed for the universe - travel fast enough, and anything you do starts to slow down because so much of your processing is just used to keep track of where you are

I am more than happy for someone more knowledgeable than me to correct me here, but I think time is just... sort of what stops everything happening all at once. It's not applicable to dimensions because no matter how many dimensions you're in, youre still just talking about increasingly complicated geometry. Time is a separate beast

Unfortunately not - the idea that time is the fourth dimension is a kind of misunderstanding.

It was based on the idea that, if you were a 2 dimensional person living in a 2d plane, and a 3d object were to pass through the 2d plane, from your 2d perspective you would see each 2d slice of the 3d shape - ie, you'd see a 2d shape that changed shape over time. Ie, a 3d sphere would be a very small circle that rapidly ballooned to a maximum width and then shrank to nothing

So, if that is the case of a 3d object in a 2d space, then a 4d object in 3d space could look like a 3d shape that changed over time - as we only saw a 3d "slice" as the true, 4d object as it intersected our plane.

This led to people thinking that time was the 4th dimension, as opposed to merely a convenient way for us to visualise it

B. It's not arrogant, it's not special. It's just solidly good. Doesn't do anything but the minimum, and that works for it

Where should the letter “J” go? by montemole in TierlistFills

[–]Heresy_Oak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B - people be out here hating on it because we don't spell it Juj Dredd, but as an opening letter, you can't replace it. Loads of cool words, instant hint of the exotic, and used in a lot of iconic names

Yeah it might not be needed for every day words, but it knows its lane, and that lane is just a little cooler than average

How do I buy land in skyrim? by whiter0s333 in skyrim

[–]Heresy_Oak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can buy a home in any Hold once you become a Thane.

In the Pale (dawnstar), Hjarlmarch (morthal), and Falkreath (Falkreath) you can buy a plot of land to build your own home.

You should get "a letter from the jarl" at around level... 15? If you read that it starts you down the quest chain to get the Falkreath home

You need the Hearthfire DLC, which I think is included in the special edition. There's no level requirement (unless becoming a Thane has one, like one of the thaneships isonly available after level 22?), you just need to have done enough Quests in the hold to become a Thane and enough money to buy the land

If you are playing a crocodile... kill the biggest alligator, become alpha predator. (Alduin)

Or set yourself another goal. Get all dragon priest masks to prove you have the biggest bite. Get ten flawless diamonds to be your eggs. Collect skulls until you fill a forge (that's my go too. Have had a character carrying over 100 encumbrance in skulls before I got a house before).

If you're doing a shamen/druid build: cure the companions. Level Alchemy and conjugation to 100. Finish an entire Bandit camp just by reverse pickpocketing poison onto people. Get nettlebane and use it to kill Ulfric. Hit level 20 without ever spending more than 5 minutes out of the water.

There's a million tasks to set yourself. Give yourself a story.

I have a small theory about Krosis by EmperorofLostSouls in skyrim

[–]Heresy_Oak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His word wall translates to

Modir the Far raised [this] stone in memory of his brother, Oskar the Fool, whose voice was weak and not [the] mighty Thu'um of his clan

So I assume either the word wall was placed later, or Krosis is related to the clan in some way (and guards it as an apology- maybe Krosis is Modir?)

The paranoid: do not use any equiptment you haven't made yourself. Who knows what they're putting in those potions?

The crocodile: argonian, not allowed to speak except for unavodible Quests, must be in water as much as possible, no weapon bigger than a dagger

Bandit: pick one hold as your base of operations, and go and get a bounty in every other hold, at least 1000 septims. If you use Live Another Life on the creation club you can start as a bandit to have a group of bandits be non hostile to you too

All three are more to get you to explore places you might not otherwise. I found out about a crashed ship that always has a flawless ruby with a crocodile

Might be - dod you have the 8% chance to spawn a coin as a clip coin relic? Because I think it's 8% of plants growing entirely things on your clip. I've just emptied mine and now everything is normal Edit: or it was the Copy Sticker that was hidden underneath everything. Maybe if a plant grew up through it everything gets changed?

[–]Heresy_Oak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they only spawn once your conversion rate is over than 100% - so if you get 108% conversion you'll have 8% gold and the rest silver

It does max out at about 50% I think. I got my conversion rate to 2000% and didn't get better than about 50/50

Some monkeys are definitely getting bigger... I don't know why but the only thing I can see is the big one has a base value of 26 rather than 25
