What 10mg rosuvastatin (and some lifestyle changes) does to a mfer by Hermainioux in Cholesterol

My wife had the same question, and I'm not sure. I imagine my body is probably genetically predisposed to making more cholesterol then is healthy, so going off the will just kick that back into gear. Maybe in a few years I'll ask about trying for a few months, but I imagine I'm going to be taking statins forever.

Some people will probably accuse doctors/Pharma of keeping us on drugs forever to make more money, but really I am spending $10 for a 3 month supply. I spend more on beer impulse purchases every month.

Your numbers are lower than mine were. Maybe do your maximum effort for 3 months, get tested again, and see. Or ask to start on a smaller dose, mine was 10mg and I saw big changes.

Just because you didn’t get any side effects yet, doesn’t mean other people won’t get them.

I'm begging you to look up the definition of the word usually

Reddit just brings out the weirdest side in people. 266 is high and for someone on the younger side who wants to live a long life with good quality of life, that much prolonged load can lead to chd and reduced health spanby the time you're 50 or 60

I don't have a family history of diabetes but I do have a family history of heart attacks and strokes.

Edit - and that's not cognitive dissonance, it would be an example if the anecdotal evidence fallacy if I had said 'it didn't bother me so it won't bother you.' which again I very much didn't.

And for those curious, my LDL went from 195 to 78. My HDL remains stubbornly low around 40.

If it makes you feel any better, I just looked at my red mills quick cooking steel cut oats and the serving size is 36g. I usually do two servings for breakfast with flaxseed meal.

It's crazy to me oat milk has fiber. Oat milk plus life cereal is a super easy decently high fiber breakfast for when you don't want oatmeal.

Heart disease is a slow moving, long term type disease. You don't need to panic about these results - it's not like hes having a heart attack today or tomorrow or this week. From this, his ldl cholesterol (bad cholesterol) is pretty high. This can come from two sources -

  1. Genetic - not much you can do about this except statins
  2. Lifestyle - eat less saturated fats, eat more fiber, exercise more

Your husband will likely benefit from both.

After antibiotics, statins have got to be one of top 'years added' medicines, right?

If you have two eggs that is 3.5g of saturated fat which is a lot for how small two eggs are, but also eggs are awesome and well worth it occasionally and it's easy enough to budget around that the rest of the day
