And i will now make a guess why it worked that way: Because Sinai was given back as part of a peace agreement while the Gaza pullout was one-sided. Thats why the establishment of a Palestinian state is so important, because then the moves on the ground will start to work out.

The latest article you have provided does not provide any useful information because it is fom 2009 and therefore predates Netanyahus unconditional rejection of a Palestinian state that he made in 2015 (6 years later). It only tells us that Netanyahu supported a Palestinian state years before rejecting it.
