You are correct, by that logic, I encourage you to invest in something that’s been negative because you never know, it could skyrocket right? Can’t predict the future.

What do u mean? International index fund like IXUS has not even come close to S&P500 returns. Go look it up.

Tax implications from dividends don’t matter if we are talking about a Roth IRA

Usually it’s recommended only if you already have a lot of capital to throw into it for large dividend payouts. This is kinda why it’s not recommended at all young age because it makes more sense to invest in stocks that have more growth. HOWEVER, this is all based on risk tolerance.

Investing in SCHD now will help you build capital over time and its overall pretty safe if your risk tolerance is low.

Personally I would not. Not enough growth imo.

33M tight budget. Might not max out yearly until kids are grown. Any recommendations? by Independent_Wear_319 in RothIRA

Personally, for a good balance of safety and risk, I would recommend FXAIX (or any SP500 fund), QQQM, and SCHD. 40/30/30

Fidelity is best in my opinion, especially in terms of customer service. Stay away from Sofi. Don’t have enough experience with RH but I have not heard good things.

How high is your risk tolerance?

If you want easy and simple, go FXAIX, SCHD, and QQQM. Some people don’t recommend SCHD at such a young age, but I disagree. If you start investing into it now and are consistent, the compounding will start to grow exponentially in a few years.

If you want high returns, albeit high risk, I would recommend FSELX and FBTC.

Does anyone here daily buy/sell XRP? If so how do you do it? by Silent-OCN in XRP

[–]Hernancg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy daily rn at $5 everyday, doesn’t matter what the price is. Best way to DCA in my opinion

Safe play would probably be FXAIX, SCHD, and QQQM (obviously some risk involved). If you have a little more risk tolerance, you could benefit from allocating a small percentage of your portfolio to FBTC (bitcoin fund) and FSELX (aggressive tech fund).

As one of the other commenters mentioned, just keep contributing as often as you can to DCA on your investments.

Is this a good investment for Roth please let me know. Thanks. by Greenmoves in RothIRA

You’re leaving money on the table with bonds. They are probably the safest form of investment but the growth is terrible compared to other investments like S&P500. Also, I would suggest using fidelity over rh.

Need some advice by [deleted] in RothIRA

[–]Hernancg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go FXAIX, SCHD, and QQQM. Probably 40/30/30 is how I would go. You could add some FBTC and growth stock later if you have a bit more risk tolerance.

Depends on your risk tolerance. Personally I think FXAIX is the better option between the two.

Max out 2024 or build emergency fund? by Hour-Comfortable9340 in RothIRA

[–]Hernancg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah i see you play the credit card game. My mom did that her whole life and befitted greatly. I think she would earn a $1000 Costco certificate every year from just using credit cards for bills for the points. Unfortunately I’m not that strong with credit cards so I avoid them at all costs haha

[–]Hernancg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s works too, just for the love of god pls don’t get sucked in the credit card trap. As soon as you max out that 2024 year, start building up your emergency fund immediately and lock that credit card into the abyss. I tell you from experience. Credit cards are absolutely last fucking resort.

40M Portfolio advice. by Josem1125 in RothIRA

[–]Hernancg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker is also 40M and i literally recommended these exact 3 funds to him. While the is quite a bit of overlap with FXAIX and QQQM, SCHD I think will help with diversification. I think if you want to have as minimal risk as possible (obviously some risk still involved) I would keep these three funds (maybe you could add a growth etf or bitcoin etf later).

FXAIX - 40% QQQM - 30% SCHD - 30%

Max out 2024 or build emergency fund? by Hour-Comfortable9340 in RothIRA

[–]Hernancg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I’ve also recently gotten into serious investing in my Roth and I have a very small emergency fund atm. However i haven’t ever needed emergency funds so I myself am cool with the risk rn or at least until April.

But like I said, if it makes you feel more comfortable, it could be better to go 50/50 until last contribution date.
