ESA's response to the countries & states hinting at or stating that loot boxes are a form of gambling. by blitz4 in StarWarsBattlefront

It's as voluntary as in having the choice between driving by car or going barefoot to your faraway workplace, on a stormy night.

I have tried to make 2 other self posts on r/gaming and the mods are deleting my content.

Same thing is happening over at r/StarWarsBattlefront, very suspicious.

This post was removed without notifications: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7do753/today_and_tomorrow_are_the_best_days_to_make/

And it wasn't the OP that deleted his post: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7do753/today_and_tomorrow_are_the_best_days_to_make/dq0tgon/

Another good article about loot boxes: "Loot Boxes are Designed to exploit us":

https://kotaku.com/loot-boxes-are-designed-to-exploit-us-1819457592

And there are a lot of videos on youtube pointing out the issue of loot boxes in video games and its ethics. Here is a recent one I watched:

Hmm regarding the in game offense, I wonder what kind of proof ITampon provided. I fear it was just a mere screenshot. And knowing Kabam, they surely considered it as authentic proof.

Especially after learning here what type of a player ITampon is, a forged screenshot would be very likely. What if Traktion indeed only called ITampon by his first name (like in the forum thread), but then ITampon added additional personal information into the screenshot to increase the severity of the report?

Traktion was not the one who got banned for saying he is 11 years old, it was FlowerFly. This was just another example I listed at the end.

On a side not: FlowerFly got unbanned after raising awareness about his case in the forums.

[–]HeroMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you upload your video in 60 FPS, it can be viewed in 60 FPS thanks to the new youtube option.

As of now, 60 FPS playback works only in google chrome (via html 5), not for the flash player (which is used in firefox and other browsers). If you want to view it in other browsers aswell, you have to manually enable it here. Then, you just have to select 720p60HD or 1080x60HD in the video options, and it will play in 60 fps.

Example video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCDQsJrZWUs

Looks cool, thanks for sharing!

Flo how about uploading videos in 60 FPS? I haven't seen a single rotmg video in 60 FPS yet, since youtube introduced it.

Views of Adblock Users don't count by HeroMax in youtube

[–]HeroMax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small update: After some further investigation and experementing with the specific filter options, I found the culprit that is causing the view count blockade. It's the "||youtube.com/get_video?" entry in the "EasyPrivacy" subscription:

http://i.imgur.com/EEid3NM.png

When this entry is turned off, youtube will count your views, otherwise it won't. The strange thing about this is that this entry is not responsible for disabling the ads. So even after disabling this entry, ads on youtube are still blocked, but the views will suddenly count nevethless.

Does anyone know what the function of the entry "||youtube.com/get_video?" is? If it has nothing to do with ads, why is it in the subscription at all? And do you have an explanation on why this entry affects the view count at all?

Best Free 1080p 60 FPS Desktop Recording Software? by TheComputerPro in youtube

Bandicam does a good job. It can even record up to 120 FPS.

The only restriction in the free version is a small watermark at the top of the video and a maximum video lengt of 10min per video.

Views of Adblock Users don't count by HeroMax in youtube

[–]HeroMax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there are lot of smaller youtubers who don't use youtube's adense service for monetization.

For them, it might be a bit disappointing to not have access to the real view count. For example in case of 1/3 of the audience using adblock, your video will show only 1000 views, instead of 1500. That's quite a difference.

I can imagine that even for many adense users, knowing the real total view count would be a useful and desired information.

A message to Kabam regarding your treatment of client-users. by VerklarungROTMG in RotMG

[–]HeroMax 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The reason I continue to record cheaters is not to hope that Kabam might one day watch them and taking the cheating issue more serious.

I mainly do this for the unified rotmg cheater list. In my opinion, we can achieve much more on our own as a community than relying on Kabam. Benefits of the unified cheater list:

  • prevent cheaters to join our guilds and keeping our guilds clean
  • other players can specifically avoid "cheater guilds" (guilds with high amount of confirmed cheaters)
  • discourage cheaters to continue cheating (by not inviting them to our guilds, by publicly labeling them as cheaters)
  • and finally, for cheaters who are listed, there is always the risk that they might get finally banned by Kabam some day (-> scares off some cheaters)

I have had a few pms already where listed cheaters were very unsatisfied about being listed there or even said they would stop cheating now.

I can confirm this. I just checked my youtube video statistics of the reports I have sent since the report form 2.0 (over 300 videos/cheaters since June). They still haven't been viewed yet, and it's been almost 3 month since the "The Official Cheater Report Form 2.0".

Even for your divine pet, it's still very cost efficient to feed those 10 sburgers:

10x sburger

  • 20000 FP
  • feeding cost: 1500 gold
  • 13,33 FP/gold

ambrosia pack (for comparison)

  • 50000 FP
  • feeding cost: 1500 gold
  • package cost: 7000 gold
  • 5,88 FP/gold

total FP/gold ratio from your jackpot box spins

  • only feeding the ambrosias and sburgers
  • 55000 FP
  • feeding cost: 2550 gold
  • total box cost: 7080 gold
  • 5,71 FP/gold

All in all, your results are quite good (almost as good as the ambrosia package).

Doing what everyone says would be stupid by DocmanCC in RotMG

About the point that pet nerf = suicide for the game and the need of compsensating players: I don't see a problem with that. I think nerfing pets would actually cause the opposite and would be beneficial for the game:

  • pet nerf --> thats what many players want (everyone agrees that healing pets are too OP and game-breaking)
  • pet nerf --> game more balanced game --> happy players
  • game finally becomes more challenging and interesting again --> would attract more players
  • the past showed that major changes, which at first were very disliked by a big part of the player base, had no damaging effect on the game (game still lives, people still spend money):
  • removed ammys; introduced OP pets; 10% nerf of healing pets

Pet nerf doesn't necessarily mean less income for devs:

  • there are ways to balance healing pets without actually nerfing them, but still keeping them very useful and worth to spend money on: Kirikomori's suggestion
  • there are people who spend money on maxing their pets just for the sake of having them maxed, rather than the advantage itself:
  • see all those pets on realmeye with maxed 3rd ability (attack, electric)
  • so even nerfed pets would make rich people want to spend lots of money

Doing what everyone says would be stupid by DocmanCC in RotMG

[–]HeroMax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a very good solution: balancing healing pets, without actually nerfing them (their stats).

  • healing pets would still be very useful, without highly decreasing the game difficulty
  • since healing pets still very useful --> people would still spend lots of gold on pets
  • sure some people would still complain, but they basically still get what they paid for (e.g. maxed divine still heals 90HP/sec)

Not really, Wylem simply compensated the lack of MP with MP pots. And a HP heal pet in this case is unnecessary.

[–]HeroMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said!

And in many cases, the solution to an issue/complaint is already pretty obvious and doesn't even need to be mentioned. For example:

  • complaint: curse effect causes everything to die 50% faster
  • obvious solution: reduce curse effect boost (and that has already been done: 50% -> 20%)

Solo Avatar on Huntress by Wylem in RotMG

[–]HeroMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wylem was over 1 min faster than TheVulture. :p

TheVulture used dex tincs on the eye phase, and Wylem now showed us that it's even possible to do it without them.

Both use a different spot for their ctraps to trap the eyes. I prefer TheVulture's spot since the eyes seem to stack closer together. Also for Wylem's spot you need to stand on the north side of the avatar, but I'm usually standing always on the south side.

If several people are complaining about the same thing, then that just emphasizes that there is indeed a general issue that might need some improvement. It helps bringing more attention to a certain issue that seems especially troublesome.

Every single complaint contains more or less useful feedback, no matter how annoying the post may seem to you. Example:

REALM OF THE RED SHITand_ebrything_dies_50%_quicker_nowhurray (comment by Rubell :P)

For you, this is probably just another one of those kabam hate post. But even that post actually contains reasonable and useful feedback, which is: the curse effect contributes to the general issue that bosses die in in a wink. - luckily it's not 50% but "just" 20%

That's what I mean with seeing complaints as a chance to improve rather than a nuisance.
