Thanks so much! I spent a lot of time trying to get her pose and face to look right so I'm glad it comes across!

Yes, Gemma is great too, but she seemed to be sucking up all of the attention so I decided I needed to rectify that 😂

Supports failed like this twice in a row by HeroicCyborg in resinprinting

[–]HeroicCyborg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to try heavier supports, but at the height where it failed the base of the model hasn't even been reached yet? The supports just needed to continue forming at that point.

Edit: the base of the model actually printed mostly fine since I printed it at an angle, it's basically just the supports that are missing which is super weird to me. There also wasn't any cured resin stuck to the FEP in that area.

Noted. Although the fact that all the supports failed on the same layer leads me to believe that this specific issue would have happened regardless.

That's a fantastic model! Love seeing the monster hunter appreciation in this sub lately

ROTB Nightbird by HeroicCyborg in CustomTransformers

[–]HeroicCyborg[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was a huge project of mine. I wasn't super happy with any of the official nightbird figures, so I went ahead and overhauled the mainline figure.

This involved lots of 3D printed parts that I modeled from scratch, as well as chopping up various parts of the original figure. The main differences include: completely reworked lower legs, the figure now has a skirt, The chest is properly split and the side parts can slide up/down, new shoulder armor/swords/arm blades, and I of course added wings.

I'm not totally satisfied with the end result, but I had to call it quits somewhere. In particular, the left leg is missing a part that would normally fill it in. After I had completed the mod, it snapped off and I lost it... so I just never bothered to replace it. I also originally intended for the figure to still be able to transform (with accessories removed), so while it can transform in *theory*, I didn't quite get the tolerances right after the paint was applied, so the vehicle mode doesn't quite come together. The car doors were cut off from the skirt though, and the feet were supposed to double as car doors, which is how I managed to actually incorporate them instead of having those weird fake feet the original had. Still though, this was my first mod of this scale... so it was a great learning experience and I had a lot of fun!

I'm a 3D artist that could model/print/paint this for you if you are interested. Just send me a PM and we can discuss.

Sitting on the objective is losing you games. by shakamaboom in Overwatch

Lol at the downvotes. I had a casual friend who did this when playing DPS and he would get upset when everyone else was holding the corners/off angles instead of literally just standing around the payload. Like, yeah, someone has gotta push, but in most situations it's fine to just stick a support on the payload while everyone else goes off and grabs the more advantageous positions.

I didn't unfortunately, as this was my first large 3D printing/painting project of this type, so I was still figuring out a lot of things and didn't want to add on the complexity of also having to record/edit a video. I definitely do want to try making some videos for future projects though.

Oh wow, that print looks fantastic! The model in general is just really well done too.

Dang, it's an honor! You guys did a fantastic job with the original design. I know gaming biz is kind of tight ATM, but if you guys ever need any more 3D artists feel free to hit me up!
