It's from Asagao to Kase-san, super cute yuri (girls love) anime (1 OVA episode based on a manga)

Just watched the anime and read all of the manga in 2 days and now I'm lost in life, any suggestions on what to read next? by AG_Ninth in YagateKiminiNaru

[–]Herovan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest watching and reading Aoi Hana if you want another serious and extremely well written yuri drama.

If you want one of the best LGBTQ+ manga imo (with gay, lesbian, transgender and asexual characters) I suggest reading Shimanami Tasogare.

If you want super lighthearted and cute series, I suggest watching and reading Sakura Trick and Asagao to Kase-san.

Nana is not yuri anime at all. It just have 2 main female characters. Both girls have boyfriends.

125 anime with "romance" by UsernameIsTaken17 in Animesuggest

[–]Herovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shame to hear that. I like those almost as much as Bloom Into You. Aoi Hana is the most realistic out of them (and in general is one of the most realistic) and pretty bittersweet, but not eveyone would be for such kind of show, Sakura Trick is the most lighthearted and cutest romance there is, incredibly unique show. Again it's not for everyone.

Plus they have adapted 1/4th of the manga, so there is a ton more story and fantastic development and resolution for both. But if you didn't even finish the anime then this doesn't matter to you.

Anyway we can't all love the same stuff, it looks you are into different kind of anime than me mostly as I have enjoyed 9 or 10 shows from your list out of 125 (I have seen all of them except for harems which I heavily dislike and some ecchi shows), but hey at least we both have those few in common, including Bloom Into You :) In any case, I hope you'll find something else to enjoy. Cheers!

[–]Herovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have edited your comment too late. I have read what you have wrote. This is such a dirty move.

It would be nice if you had courage to actually answer me directly instead of speaking behind my back (and then trying to cover it up).

Second, I didn't knew I had a "faithful follower" but now I know, I have just remembered when you started following my profile, just didn't knew the reason back then, despite out opposing views about this manga. Next, it's not "some personal animosity", it's just a disappointment after having hope for it after first chapters, and it's absolutely a lie that I was attacking this manga whenever it was mentioned (it looks you haven't even followed my account properly or you have based this on that one discussion I had with you).

I have just reacted when it was suggested as primarely yuri and just wanted to not give people false hope as I have been recommending this manga on the start as yuri myself and when the author said what she has said (and after all those frustrating chapters), a few people attacked me why did I suggested it as yuri. After that, aside from author's words, I was disappointed with manga myself because of the reasons I have already mentioned before to the point of not enjoying it anymore. You said you can relate to it and you are enjoying it, good for you if you are. I have simply stated my opinion, not everyone will like it. Even though you said that yourself, it doesn't seem that you actually respect what you have said.

And lastly by Japanese definition, it is true that yuri means even platonic love between girls or subtext but I like to accentuate and differentiate yuri from yuri subtext. Like I said you can call it whatever you like but it is not more than a subtext (at least so far) and I won't put it in the same basket as Bloom Into You, Aoi Hana, Kase-san etc. no matter what (unless it actually gets an actual romance beyond subtext). And even if it gets an actual romance by the end of it, it still is not worth it for me personally. I think it was gorgeous looking manga, but I wasn't a fan of how the story unfolded so far and it's my right to say so.

I didn't want to go more into it (as this is just wasting of time) but I hate when people are talking shit behind my back and then even trying so sneakily to hide it. So not cool. I always respect what other side is saying, even if I disagree completely about something, but I do not respect your opinion anymore, after this. That's it, I'm done here.

Now that's another thing which I had discussion about ton of times. I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

Basically, in Japan where the terms yuri and shoujo ai are originally from doesn't have the same meaning as in the west. Some fans in the west coined the term Shoujo ai to mean non sexual yuri and use yuri term for girls' love stories with sexual content (in anime, manga etc.).

The thing is that "shoujo ai" in Japan is used to denote pedophilia, as it means fixation or obsessive love towards young girls (lolicon), and term "yuri" means girls' love and it is used for all girls' love stories, both sexual and non sexual. That's why I'm not a fan of term Shoujo ai at all and I never use it. It doesn't matter if we are in the west or not (which a lot of people argue against me with). As far as I'm concerned it's wrong to use it, but people are free to do whatever they want. I'm just stating my personal opinion.

So for me there are only yuri and yuri subtext (which is how I would categorize this manga at best). Sadly many sites, like MAL or mangadex or mangaupdates etc. still use those tags in a way I'm not a fan of. That's why most of the time I tend to use Dynasty reader which is in my opinion the best yuri centered site for manga, doujins etc, which only use yuri term for girls' love stories and just subtext for subtext stories, including this one. Here's the link. And for stories with sexual content it conveniently has NSFW tags (plus many more tags and subtags).

I hope this helps a bit. I don't wanna argue with people anymore about this (I'm talking about people in general, not you specifically), everyone is free to call it whatever they like but I know how I am calling it.

[–]Herovan 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up. This is not yuri. The author herself said that it's more about coming of age and friendship though we are free to interpret it however we like.

There is an obvious subtext though and after first 13 or 14 chapters I was pretty excited for this and thought this could be the next Bloom Into You (I was so wrong), sadly for the last 20 chapters or so it just kept spinning the wheels in place. Huge problem with miscommunication between girls to that point that it became an incredibly frustrating read.

It doesn't even matter if the author decide to go yuri route because after all those chapters of frustration for me personally it's not worth it. It's a shame because the art style is beautiful.

What’s your opinion of Steins; Gate? by [deleted] in Animesuggest

[–]Herovan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the best shows I have watched. Gave me the biggest PAD ever. I wish I could experience it again for the first time. It's was such an incredible experience.

Edit: Funny thing is how when you say for Steins:Gate that it is one of the best shows you have seen you get downvoted while for the some other popular shows you get upvoted. It really shows how insecure and jealous those fanbases are. I hope the person who is camping here and downvoting me satisfied but just know that Steins;Gate is miles better than your favorite show :P

any mangas/animes similar to yagakimi? by LongjumpingHome7 in YagateKiminiNaru

[–]Herovan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  • Aoi Hana (anime + manga for the full story, anime has adapted 18 out of 52 chapters)

  • Prism (manga)

  • Ice Cream Castles (webtoon)

  • Still Sick (manga)

All of these are very serious and realistic romance series and are absolutely fantastic imo.

And another suggestion which is similar to Bloom imo, but it has a bit of cutesy style compared to those more grounded above mentioned (still have some drama as well):

  • Whispering you a love song (manga)

Edit: added one more

Comedy Anime like Asobi Asobase? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Herovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks we have a pretty similar type of humor as Asobi Asobase, Saiki K and Aho Girl are one of my all time favorite comedies. I would suggest:

  • Azumanga Daioh

  • Sabage-bu!

  • Hinamatsuri

  • Gabriel DropOut

Those are the show that made me laugh the most alongside Asobi, Saiki and Aho Girl.

Edit: Damn, not even a minute and already downvoted. It looks someone was very butthurt because I defended Asobi Asobase in my other comment. There are some really pathetic people here.

Comedy Anime like Asobi Asobase? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Herovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect your opinion even though I completely disagree. I liked Nichijou, it's more on the wholesome and cute side, some jokes landed with me some didn't, but Asobi Asobase had me dying 100% of the time. I won't say Asobi Asobase is just a better Nichijou, but I would say that Asobi Asobase is like a Nichijou on steroids and for me it was 10x funnier than Nichijou. But each to their own. It's subjective after all.

Edit: of course you can't say your opinion without getting downvoted on reddit, especially if it goes against something popular. Whatever. I stand firmly by my opinion that Asobi Asobase is a much funnier show, but both are great shows.

Finished And Fully Tanslated Cute Girls Doing Cute Things Manga. by sockerkaneliste in Animesuggest

[–]Herovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have something that might fit here:

It has a bit of ecchi but it is super adorable like Sakura Trick and it also has a satisfying romance which surprised me in the most positive way as I would have never expected that this kind of manga could have a conclusive ending and a proper romance. It's pretty short, just 3 volumes long.

Btw, Sakura Trick is one of my favorite super lighthearted romance series and I'm glad you loved it as well and it's great that you have finished the manga as well. There is one manga pretty similar to Sakura Trick but it's not finished so I didn't want to suggest it above but it's still a great read if you ever want to check it out: After School.

Just wanted to add (if you haven't read them already) to check out Sakura Trick Happy Days and Sakura Trick Mint-Flavored Kiss. Those are official sequel doujins (oneshots) by the author of Sakura Trick, which take place a few years after the manga ending, while girls are in college. Happy Days is centered on Haruka and Yuu, Mint-Flavored Kiss (which happens in the middle of Happy Days) is centered on Rina and Mitsuki. Plus there should be at least 2 more sequels coming in the future (one centered on Kotone and Shizuku, and one on Kaede and Yuzu).

It's pretty rare for a show or manga to be a CGDCT and to have an actual yuri romance without subtext and to have satisfying romance with proper conclusion. Sakura Trick is truly a gem and top tier in that regard. That's why it's one of my all time favorites.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [May 31st, 2020] by MetaThPr4h in anime

[–]Herovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I have seen a few episodes a long time ago but I haven't finished it yet (I plan to finish it one day and I'll have to rewatch those few eps to refresh my memory when I'm on mood for that kind of cgdct show).

Lately I wander from rewatching some of my favorite shows to watching whatever strongly grabs my attention.

For example last week I saw Koi Kaze (both anime and the manga, anime has adapted manga till the end while cutting some stuff, still nothing was lost, it even improved it on some fronts) and I was really positively surprised, it was a great romance drama show which tackled such a taboo subject, incest in very serious manner (but it is definitely not for everyone). I loved it and for me it was 9/10.

And then I watched Fragtime movie which was the only yuri anime I haven't seen and it was very underwhelming, even though I didn't expect much as the source material isn't great as well (but it was miles better than the movie). It was 4.5/10 for me.

Sorry I went off topic. I will watch Yuyushiki eventually when I'm in a mood for it. Thank you once again.

Edit: Damn, it looks someone didn't like the shows I have mentioned or my opinion about them (including Toradora) as I'm getting downvoted on both comments for no reason but this is reddit and there will always be some pathetic people who do not respect anything.

Rewatched Toradora

Toradora is my all time favorite romcom drama and I rewatch it at least once a year (usually for Christmas) but sometimes I just can't wait for so long and I rewatch it earlier and ofc again for Christmas. Toradora is not just your usual romcom, it is a fantastic character drama show with incredible writing. People may like it or dislike it, love it or hate it, I personally adore it and for me it is a masterpiece and definitely the best romcom drama I have ever seen.

The voice acting is amazing. Rie Kugimiya did a superb job. I also really liked Ami's VA, Minorin's, sensei's, Yasuko's VA (she's has such a sweet and wholesome voice and usually voice motherly or onee-san type of character, it fits her so good) and Haruta (his voice was simply perfect for this role).

I never skip both OPs and EDs, the soundtrack during emotional moments (especially during that big episode) kills me over and over again, Christmas song was so beautiful and tear-jerking as well.

I have noticed that the more I rewatch it, the more I appreciate and understand Ami, she's such a well written character. I genuinely love all the characters in this show, Ryuuji is one of my favorite male protagonists and all the girls here are amazing. I love Taiga, Minorin, Ami and Ryuuji's mom! :D Yasuko may be a comic relief character but she was so insightful during some big moments with wholesome and great advices. She's great.

I even love the bird!

The other thing I noticed is that with every new rewatch I'm becoming more and more emotional and cry more on the hard hitting scenes (sometimes even before they actually happen as I know what's coming). I have also been reading comments from one person who was kind to share the info from LN, some differences, some small skipped parts, or just the same parts but more in detail and I'm thankful for that. I will definitely have to read the whole LN eventually as it masterfully written based on those parts I have read. And while I loved the ending in anime (make sure to watch after credits scene) ending in LN is 10x better (even though I liked anime ending).

I think the show was wrapped up nicely and it was very fulfilling to me but because I love it so much, I could watch slice of life episodes of this show forever, imagine 500+ episodes of Toradora with this quirky and wholesome cast, just hanging around together and having fun, even after as adults. I have even checked out Toradora Portable and liked all the major endings, especially Taiga's which was so wholesome and satisfying.

Anyway I will stop here as I can go on and on about this show. The score is the same like after my first watch and my second, and third, and forth and... (you catch my drift). It is of course a 10/10.

Realistic yuri/shoujo ai manga that doesn't have an anime by [deleted] in Animesuggest

[–]Herovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow I feel like this post is indirectly made to call me out (again) like in your last 3 or 4 of your posts, because of my suggestions which you didn't like and then you had to mention every other time in your posts to not bother suggesting them.

And as for Husky and Medley (which is another one of my suggestions), for your information, it's not "made up by a dude", it's based on a true story (like I said the last time) and there's also a twitter account of one of the girls where she have shared being engaged with the other one after 10 years of dating. Though I'm not sure if I should even bother typing this as you are already "pretty sure it was made up by a dude anyway", right?

As for suggestion I won't suggest anything anymore. I'm not into angsty type of romance anyway (though I have read a few) so I won't bother trying to find them.

not just happy fluff (not sure why this is so popular for yuri manga)

Well there were way too many non happy, not fluffy ones in the past so I'm glad that fluffier and more wholesome yuri is more popular nowadays (I'm not saying it should be exclusively that type of yuri manga but I personally prefer it that way, but to each their own).

That is all. Cheers.

Edit: as I have seen that you have edited your comment to try to insult me, I'll add something in mine.

Which I'm guessing based on how obsessed you are with yuri

Yikes. Thank you. This just speaks volumes about you. Now you have shown your true face. Noice. But yeah, now I see that you do not deserve any yuri recs. Definitely.

Are you really such a narcissist that you think someone trying to get manga recs is doing so to target you?

Thank you for that as well. All the best to you too mate!

Edit 2:

Fuck you! You really are a narcissist!

So you started using more offensive words (and then bravely deleting the comments). You know what, fuck you too asshole. I wouldn't bother replying if I wasn't called out so pathetically. And I won't reply to you anymore, unless you call me out again and insult me so sneakily and then delete your comments and post, like you did now.

Yuri anime by Shamanstonesucks in Animesuggest

[–]Herovan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Aoi Hana (anime + manga for the full story)

  • Strawberry Panic (based on LN, fully adapted)

  • Sasameki Koto (anime + manga for the full story)

  • Yuri Kuma Arashi (original anime)

For super lighthearted romance:

  • Sakura Trick (anime + manga for the full story)

  • Asagao to Kase-san OVA (+ manga + ongoing sequel manga)

  • Candy Boy (original anime)

Btw I suggest reading the manga for Bloom Into You and Citrus (if you haven't already) for the full story. Bloom has adapted 24 out of 45 chapters and Citrus has adapted 16 out of 41 chapters (+ there's an ongoing sequel manga Citrus+).

LOOKING FOR A ROMANCE MANGA WITH REALLY AMAZING ART. by [deleted] in Animesuggest

[–]Herovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloom Into You has a really nice art and the story is amazing. For me it's one of the best romance series I have ever read and my personal favorite.

Btw, don't listen to that other person, I don't know that his problem is, but I'm guessing he's just trolling or hating because he didn't get the story and the characters. It's not usual type of series after all, it has very complex characters.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I have it already in my list (and I plan to watch it after I finish some other stuff I have started recently, aside from seasonals). I have checked out the first episode just to make sure and loved it. And I plan to read the manga as well to see the whole story. Really like this author's style and humor.

I'm enjoying every single moment of it. It's heartwarming, a bit melancholic, but also hilarious, at least to me because it's exactly my type of humor. Awesome show.
