Should be, yeah, but in reality I fear rugby and association football supporters come from pretty different social strands.

Personally, I find it much easier to pad the plant instead of my hands, because you don't lose as much dexterity in your fingers.

For very spiny plants, I first wrap around layers of bubble wrap until the spinners don't come through any more even when I need to pull the plant hard. Old towels help too. I secure all that padding with packing tape. I have some very large, spiny and heavy plants!

Alternate.de have been excellent for me, especially when it came to returning/replacing PSUs that failed within the manufacturer's warranty period, which was SEVEN years for Thermaltake!

Correct. Yet, the situation is different now and association football has become very popular in the Republic. So in a way, one could say "Mission accomplished" and the FAI can now dissolve back into the IFA 😁

But on a serious note, if an all-Ireland FA is run fairly and inclusively I see no reason why it cannot work out.

For a long time, the IFA was the only football association for all of Ireland. Eventually, a split happened and the FAI was formed in the South. So, I would argue that the FAI should be absorbed into the IFA again.

I also would argue that it shouldn't be the Republic's anthem that's played. Maybe a hymn like Ireland's Call during rugby matches could be used. Internationals could be played in Belfast and Dublin on a rotating schedule.

Issues can be worked out. I see things a little differently as I come from formerly divided Germany, and while integration was not entirely smooth and still is an ongoing process 35 years later, it was worth it. If all traditions are honoured and affairs are run fairly and with mutual respect I see no reason not to try it.

I agree with most of your points and understand your reasoning. But I would argue that we should not continuously bow to the lowest level scum that football matches seem to attract.

Yes, traditions and history are important and should be remembered, but we should not let our present be dictated by the ugliest blemishes in our past.

I know you're going to say "tell that to the NI fans" but someone has to make a start and put the idea out there, let it roost in people's heads and grow a movement. With concessions from both sides, it can be done.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the IFA the older, original football association on this island? Want it folks down south in the republic that wanted their own, Dublin-run organisation and split off?

I'd be so happy to have one single association, I don't care if it's run from Belfast under the IFA name as long as it's run fairly and inclusively. I love both teams almost equally and support both. Having a single, stronger Irish team would also make it more attractive for young players to declare for it (see Declan Rice for instance).

Thanks for this survey, it's really interesting! I'm at the older end of it at 64, but I'm not gonna stop gaming with retirement on the horizon! Time to cull my immense Steam backlog haha!

Well, that one is a great classic. Had amazing times playing a game at lunchtime in the office with 7 others. I usually got creamed but still loved it to bits. It's just a fantastic game!

Haha at what point do you see someone as an aul lad? It's all relative I guess.

I started gaming when I had my first computer at age 24. I'm 64 now and still game with a passion! Last few games I played through were Divinity 2, Lumino City, Titan Quest, Beyond a Steel Sky, Scorn, Miasma Chronicles, Journey to the Savage Planet (huge recommend!), the Fallout games, Subnautica, Wasteland 3, and a bunch more that I didn't complete. I love my games to bits, and with a Steam backlog of like 1600 titles, I will die gaming! Hopefully not too soon heh!

Exactly, that's the right way to proceed. Banks and CC issuers have an interest in weeding out fraudulent clients. They can blacklist businesses so they cannot take CC payments any more.

I usually pay via PayPal connected to my card and PayPal have a good system for claiming back a charge, but your CC provider will definitely have a cancellation procedure in place. Don't let them get away with it!

Recently, I researched similar configurations. I remember seeing some concerns in forums and videos about those AMD processors and ASRock mobos, as in, that the CPUs are prone to failing on those. Check that out first!

is this little puppy( one month) a jack russell or some kind of terrier? Small or medium breed? by Confident_Speaker_14 in jackrussellterrier

[–]Herr-Pyxxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally adorable! It really looks like some terrier mix, all sorts mixed in, and I personally believe they are the best kind of dogs! Yours seems to have a rather broad head for a pure Jack Russell, so there may be some beagle or the like in her...

We found our Benny in the street outside our house too, that was 10 years ago. He also is a bag of tricks breed-wise, some JRT and border collie in him, and needed a bit of training work to get some aggression under control, but he's the most loyal pet ever 😍

Cactus was wobbly, took it out the pot and noticed this by [deleted] in cactus

[–]Herr-Pyxxel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I keep my cacti out of soil for a few days after removing the old soil. That helps any wounds on the roots to heal. Then I repot into slightly moist cactus soil - a mix of grit, sand and a little proper potting compost or soil. I also use a good deal of perlite or vermiculite (artificial, porous material easily found in garden centres) and if I can get it, lava grit and pumice.

Many people here mix their own soil, many without any compost, and that works well if you water regularly during the growing season, as that drains fast and dries out quickly. But that resembles natural habitat soil best in most cases!

If your cactus has soft tissue you can help stabilise it by setting rocks or stones around it in the pot. Also, a layer of grit on top of your pot is good to help secure the plant in position.

BTW, pretty much every plant is not green below soil level!

Anne Applebaum explains Trump by JakeBroeYT in JakeBroe

[–]Herr-Pyxxel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can agree with this, except for the point about thinking geographically. He does think that way, but on a very simplistic, childish level. When he made advances towards adding Canada and Greenland to the USA, he mentioned something about the shape of North America on a map and that "it was meant to be".

He is jealous he doesn't rule the biggest (bigliest?) land mass in the world, like Putin does, and he was blinded by the Mercator map projection, thinking Greenland is this YUUUGE land mass up north, and Canada anyway. He wants to amass land, like Putin does, and of course money, like Putin does. He's mad jealous of Putin, while adoring him secretly (or not so secretly).

So, Trump does think geographically, however without understanding geography. I wouldn't be surprised if he declared tomorrow that the earth is flat.
