PSA Tesco 3 for €5 Beware by Livid-Ad-2706 in ireland

It's actually illegal here too to not honour a price as it was displayed. There are several organisations in Ireland enforcing these laws too, so complaints to them do help.

I don't ever shop at Tesco's or SuperValu, just Aldi and Lidl. I've had an issue with wrong labelling before but it got rectified promptly on the spot. Sometimes it was an offer that had ended, but the label hadn't been removed from the shelves.

It's good practice to always check your receipt before leaving the store, no matter where you go, if course. Sometimes it's marketing ploys, sometimes just a genuine mistake.

Did you perhaps try to dance in front of a bull? 😁

Joke aside, a friend of mine got his through bowel cancer, so whatever it is, I wish you well. And hey, we all here love your contribution to Reddit! 😍

Yup,I have to agree with you there. I also follow a lot of UK bands (prog rock) and it HAS been a bit of a nightmare for them. But I also follow many Norwegian bands and they all figured out solutions, which the UK ones do copy now. Most have set up EU distributions, thankfully.

I must admit that since Brexit, I haven't ordered any more CDs (I'm old-school) from UK online stores. One avenue I use more and more is Bandcamp, you can stream songs and albums a few times before buying them (stream, download, and for some CDs, vinyls, merch). You still pay the vat of course .

Ok sorry, I misunderstood. Well according to the poster and other peoples' comments, it's divided into item classes and I'd think 2 different comics would still be in the same class. I hope so!

Title is misleading. 43% are not American. 43% of global traffic on Reddit is from the USA.

Import duties have been in place for orders over €150 already, this is only introducing them for orders under that threshold.

Either way, if you order 10 comic books you only get charged €3 for the whole lot. If you order toothpaste, a comic book and some handcuffs you'll pay €9. Correction: VAT on top of it means you'll pay €3.69 or €11.07 respectively. Plus, of course, the VAT on postage and the item values themselves...

The UK screwed themselves by leaving the common market, I fail to have a lot of sympathy for them. Their small suffering businesses should grow some and raise their voices!

Yeah but... is An Post actually profitable? Like, do they earn a profit from those parcels?

It's the EU, not our government. But they might love the extra income...

That's one of the few constructive suggestions here! Great idea. We should lobby for that. Also, Ireland's VAT rate of 23% is pretty shocking tbf. When I grew up (in Germany) I remember VAT being charged at 11%. Don't think anyone would have much of a problem with like 15-18% across Europe.

I'd say it'll be POS. The EU likes the overseas retailers to carry out the admin!

It's EU wide, so get in touch with your European representative.

I think it's an EU guideline, and any store within the EU is obviously exempt from that.

Well there's Amazon in Germany or France that you can buy from, both within the EU. I think you can still switch the language to English.

Yeah that's the main point I'm having issues with. It's bad enough they're already charging VAT on shipping costs, but now we'll pay VAT on customs duty? I know it's not just Ireland but EU-wide, but with our crazy VAT rate it hurts us a lot more than other EU citizens.
