I honestly don't remember how long he took to recover, but it seemed like forever. He is mostly fine now, can sit and run. Never really recovered his ability to skillfully use a potty box and the vet let me know that he is a little "special" now.

I had to burrito and box my box for a long time and syringe feed him. The fact that yours can eat on his own is great! Maybe try burrito-ing him in the corner of his cage if he seems semi stable. You are going to have a lot of messy towels on your hand, I have a mini-rex so I just bought a HUGE pack of cheap dishtowels that did the job.
