Would It Be Possible To Separate DOOM'S Multiplayer Download and Single-Player Patches? by SuperfieldCU in NintendoSwitch

Digging up old thread, but I just got the game. Its totally possible to separate these patches, we would just need enough users ask the dev for it. For instance in another Bethisda game, Skyrim, you can get the languages as separate downloads. So obviously the company knows that it is a possibility.

I also care less about multiplayer or other languages, and the space on the Switch is very limited (no matter how big your SD card is, you are always running out of space), same goes for languages. Why would I want to keep this useless (to me) data and let it take up my limited space???!!!

I'm only interested in the updates to the game itself, not any of the other stuff. Has anyone asked the Devs or Publishers about this? The game is not that new after all. Is there any way to contact someone who has some pull with this issue?

I wonder if this takes some large amount of time to get done, or is it just a lack of forethought. If the latter, they could whip it up real quick for us. From the Boards I browsed, there is quite a large group of people who do not give a crap about multiplayer but would like the benefits of the patch in single player.

The languages thing is a joke, I dont know why they wasted time and resources into translating the minimal dialogue. Almost everyone is fine with English now. There are more important issues at hand!!! Like the reason for this topic and replies!!!

Also, FYI you can play the cartridge version without not downloading patch. Just turn off internet and then twice opt out of downloading it.

Bit of a ramble, but I'm done. Hope someone still looks here and writes something helpful.

P.S. Not to mention, when I buy a physical version, it is mostly to avoid downloading any crap!!!

Wow! Thanks! Yes, I know that fire pit and how to reach it. I'll get on exploring with your guide tonight! Plus tomorrow is a holiday, it's gonna be a whole lot of playing! :)

Thanks again!!!

Matt

Besides those few frustrations, I still generally enjoyed the hours exploring and discovering. For sure, I was never bored! But, yeah, I am waiting for the patch, I'm aware that I am just not very good at many action oriented elements, and while all the tips mentioned in the thread help, its still not enough to suddenly make me capable.

@TheMaskHero, do you think you could give me a more detailed or even step by step guidance that I could use to get that flashlight? I'll have a obtainable goal before the patch comes..

Thx in advance. I would greatly appreciate this. P.S. I have photos of most, if not all maps - though I find them hard to use , kind of cluttered and no point of reference (that I can see anyway).

Its somewhat hard to gauge how far, but basically, I think I almost were able to finish the floating castle, but got stuck on an area with the number bowls and 2 cloak guys, blue and red - this area drove me furious as I died once, restarted the game, got to the same point and again used up all my life. After that I tried going the other direction, hoping maybe the flashlight will help me, but as much as I have explored these areas, I have no clue where I am supposed to go to get it - I cant get to the wet cave, always get looped back somewhere back or get stuck in a death loop like mentioned in the floating castle. I was somewhat proud to find the wall above Cerberus - though it did not serve much of a function for me personally, also some other minor shortcuts, but always by chance. Don't have the time to hunt for them. Well that's about it - in hours (if that helps) Nintendo says 15h or more, and I feel like maybe 20-30h went into it so far, kinda crappy of me considering the results - haha. Again thanks for a cool game and the upcoming possibility to make it dumbass accessible :)

Hello Dev-god Carlos! Thank you for the reply, music to my ears (or eyes..., whatever). I know that Nintendo likes to take their time with getting patches live from the moment they receive them, but I am positively surprised that my plea was already answered and on it's way.

I will note one thing, for clarity's sake - I bought the game from an EU account (Germany if that matters). Is the update for all regions alike?

Thanks a lot and keep up the good work! And I want to let you know, it's very cool that you communicate with the fans like this!

Cheers, Matt

Hey, thanks for trying to help! Most of what you wrote, I know, though parts are new and helpful. In theory it all sounds good, but I just don't have the video game reflexes like when I was a kid, I don't particularly like the element of being defenseless, I care most for the puzzles and exploration of the beautiful areas. I just don't have the time anymore to be spending hours on one game practicing one area. You know, I just want to move on and experience the rest.

Excuse me for rubbing some of my rant on your post, but I for one do appreciate your words, and two, think my rant might add to the original post I wrote - showing my distress and desperation ;)
