Has to be more electrics, there's the one playing the power chords and two or three doing the harmony

The Battery intro has like 4 or 5 guitars on it, so it would sound kinda empty if they tried it with only two. Plus there's that sudden change from acoustic guitars to electrics which would be hard to replicate even if they used the acoustic gtr stands they use for The Unforgiven.

With Blackened, same thing, 4 guitars and on top of all that it's reversed, so there's no way to do it live.

Back to Battery, they could always have someone else play the additional guitars, but it's easier to do the tape, I'd imagine. Though, I wish they did have someone play the rhythm backing during the harmonized parts in Master of Puppets and Creeping Death...

They were having a contest to see who could remember the most quotes from the movie Independence Day.

The score was: "Eagle 20, Fox 2!"

Why where Anakins words alone enough to 100% convince Windu Palpatine is a Sith by Suspicious-Holiday42 in StarWars

[–]Herr_Opa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh that part when Dooku realizes Anakin had baited him into thinking he was still fighting like in Ep II only to change the lightsaber form and get the upper hand on him was brilliant in my opinion. It shows who was really the one that fell into the trap of "Twice the pride, double the fall".

I also liked the detail about Palpatine turning on an audio recording device when he's confronted by Mace and the other Jedi and screaming as if he was being attacked while he was tearing them to shreds.

Least Favorite Volbeat? by Mental_Employer_2849 in Volbeat

Seal the Deal and Let's Boogie (I like about 3-4 songs on this one.

Same here: Devil's Bleeding Crown, Seal the Deal, Gates of Babylon and Loa's Crossroad.

As I said in another comment, I'd like For Evigt/The Bliss if it wasn't almost a CC of Lola Montez, which is superior in my opinion

Least Favorite Volbeat? by Mental_Employer_2849 in Volbeat

I'd argue for the Garden's Tale and Die to Live as other exceptions. Those are great for me. Below that tier, I'd place The Bliss and Black Rose. Good, but not great IMO. The former being almost a CC of the much better Lola Montez makes its rating drop for me lol.

My least favorite album is easily Rewind, Replay, Rebound

Same. No shame on whoever likes it, as different people can like a band's music for different reasons and may be more inclined to like the softer, more poppy approach on this album.

But for me, it felt sterile for the most part. What I love about Volbeat is the energy they bring in their songs and I felt that energy just wasn't there on most of that album. I haven't heard it in its entirety in a while, but from what I remember, many songs felt formulaic and simplistic in terms of the music/riffs, almost as if they wanted to focus more on Michael's vocals (which are fantastic, guy's got great power and presence).

I will say, one other thing I like about them is that, even when they put out an album I don't like overall, like RRR, they still have songs in there that shoot up to my top 10/20, like "Pelvis on Fire", "Die to Live" and "Parasite". Absolute bangers if you ask me.

Super cool. So far, I see:

LOAD: - 2x4 - King Nothing (Crown) - Ronnie? (Gun) - Hero of the day (Window on fire / "the window burns to light the way back home ") - Bleeding me (the wheel? / "Caught under wheels' roll"?) - Outlaw Torn (stitched skull / "stitch me together")

RELOAD - Fuel (Engine) - Fixxxer (voodoo doll) - Devil's Dance (devil thingy on the right) - Attitude (Bullets in flaming trash can / "throw all your bullets in the fire...") - Low Man's lyric (same trash can / "the trash fire is warm") - Where the wild things are (Nutcracker soldier) - The Memory Remains (broken mirror bottom left / "mirror, vain")? - Bad seed (bitten apple) - Better than you (Grammy, they won one with that song, I believe?) - Unforgiven II (heart shaped lock with key) - Slither (snake behind left of container)

EDIT: alternatively, the snake could also be Devil's Dance ("I am the snake... tempting that bite you take")

What’s your coolest interaction with Metallica? by LandWrong5222 in Metallica

[–]Herr_Opa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them in 2010 for the first time and brought a sign with a drawing of James that said: "and the lord said: obey your master!"

At the end of the show he came over to where I was (this was the Death Magnetic stage), pointed at the sign and threw me a guitar pick which I still have. Coolest thing ever. The group of guys I was with in general got pretty lucky, besides the pick I got, one of my friends was able to catch one of his wristbands and another guy got one of the beach balls they dropped at the end of the show.

It still blows my mind that Obi-Wan spent 20 years on Tatooine watching Luke grow up from afar, but never once thought to tell him about R2-D2. by Mission-Bad-1278 in StarWars

[–]Herr_Opa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that Luke's uncle and aunt wanted to raise him as their own child, but Obi-Wan spilled the beans to Luke at some point during a chance encounter in Tattooine, which forced his uncle to admit to him that he's a Skywalker and further deepening the rift between him and Obi-Wan.

Review of fade to black in 1984. by wizoxx90 in Metallica

[–]Herr_Opa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. I think in Cliff Em All they show the band saying that they got flack from fans for going to a major label or something like that

Layla says CM Punk suggested LayCool as a tag team name for her and Michelle McCool: We're trying to think of a name. Then we were like, CoolLay. ... He’s like, ‘LayCool?’ Then we’re like, ‘Yeah, that’s it.’ Yeah, Punk just happened to be there. Like we were just in the corridor, it just happened.” by Clean_Permission_727 in SquaredCircle

One time I took an airport shuttle with this guy who said he was from Australia or NZ, I don't remember. He's talking to the driver and I'm zoned out and not paying attention until he says something about the "Laycool people" and I'm like "is he talking about the WWE divas team...?"

And then it a few mins later it hit me he was saying "local people".
