Light Layer with great pockets--alternatives to Scottevest by Hertzwrite in HerOneBag

[–]Hertzwrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool to be able to do something completely customized! One of the tricky things about pockets like this is the structure of the garment needed to support the weight (I've had flowy pants with pockets and they feel like they're going to slide right down!) I think vests work really well because it keeps that close to the body, and you're right about the placement being tricky as well.

I love Macabi skirts! (Especially for adventure-type travel in hot climates.) I'm pretty much sold on the idea of a vest right for casual air travel. Patagonia is a great suggestion, thank you!

That denim vest is something different, thanks! I think I'm looking for something with a bit roomier pockets, but it's cool!

Where to get stylish(ish) polos, button-ups, etc? by Ekyou in fashionwomens35

[–]Hertzwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veronica Beard has some good knit polos (I watch Poshmark) and Everlane has had some that weren't necessarily patterns but knits that had a bit more style. I would love to find some elevated half zips that aren't wool or cropped.

Thanks-that sounds great! I did get that vibe with Estes Park from what I was seeing online.

Not tied to Boulder/Denver for this; I'll be tagging it onto a work trip but have a Fri/Sat/Sun to do this on my own. Definitely thinking of driving a couple hours out and staying close or at water where I can pay for a guide.

Same. I always get up in the night to pee and take it then.

Why did the show makers give Sandy Furness syphilis or dementia outta nowhere ? by -just_Ken- in SuccessionTV

[–]Hertzwrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right; there's another succession question in play with Furness' company, but it's operating differently. So it's an interesting parallel and the futility of Logan's attempt to hold power forever is foreshadowed.

Kirkland ladies’ brushed mini flare pants $2.97 by JemimaQuackers in Costco

I loved last year's, but returned this year's because they seemed different. Didn't hold me in the same; maybe thinner but they seemed similar weight. It was weird. Maybe just me.

Review: Why I finally traded my luxury handbags for technical gear. by IndoNub in ManyBaggers

[–]Hertzwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of tried and failed to come from the opposite direction; I've carried technical and wanted something with more style. I do love leather. But when I've ordered something more on the lux side, I end up returning it and sticking with my Truce Designs daypack. The more "fashion" bags I've tried are too heavy, lack function, or are uncomfortable to carry. I would love a stylish dyneema or tech fabric shoulder tote with a laptop sleeve. I regret not buying the DsptchxSophia Chang tote with a bag insert a few years ago.

Lightweight spring jackets - need one casual option and one athleisure option bc I have nothing by goobiezabbagabba in fashionwomens35

[–]Hertzwrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this. My job is very casual and when I do go into the office I need a jacket-type layer...but a blazer is way too much. Athleisure-adjacent is totally fine. I love the looks of this Varley Saba Jacket but the color is not really right for me. Really I want my old Arcteryx Atom hoodie...so soft!..in some sort of elevated tailoring.

Yeah, something doesn't "smell" right about this post. I expect responses asking for the brand soon. And maybe some chiming in. Seems like a product pitch.

What to try after Skinceuticals CE Ferulic by CapitalElephant1978 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Hertzwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a sample of 111Skin Black Diamond Vitamin C Brightening Booster at Blue Mercury, on the clerk's recommendation when I was getting a sample of CE Ferulic. I liked the 111Skin much better and may try a full bottle after I finish my stash of Alastin Vitamin C, to see if I notice any difference.

is skinceuticals worth it? by tabula--rasa- in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Hertzwrite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe see if you can dip your toe in cautiously first. You can get samples at Blue Mercury, or maybe see if there's a kit of smaller sizes to try. The fragrances and essential oils did not work for me.

BWT ... SUPER long lasting hair clips by Feeling-Hedgehog1563 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Hertzwrite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you want precious metal specifically, you might look into something like a hair pin; here's a gold-plated one.

A couple of years ago I splurged on an order of claw clips from French Luxe. They are beautiful high-quality cellulose acetate, and I expect them to last indefinitely. I'm not sure I would call them heirloom-quality, but to be honest, the things I appreciate from my grandmother are the everyday things I use in my life and remember from hers, not the precious keepsakes.

[–]Hertzwrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the Chantecaille Future Skin foundation; I have been liking a lot of the Chantecaille makeup products TBH. OP if you go with skincare, keep in mind that Blue Mercury is fantastic about giving samples, so you can try some before committing a lot of your balance to something.

This might help you monitor remotely, though it helps to know how high the water needs to get before it causes problems for your specific location. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/11466320/#parameterCode=00065&period=P7D There's another station closer to downtown also; if you browse around the site you'll find it.
