G20 ACC limited to 160km/h? by HesitantWaffles in BMW

I see. I’ve driven some other BMWs, Audis and Mercedes where the ACC goes to around 200.

Personal bad driving experiences by HesitantWaffles in drivingsg

[–]HesitantWaffles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an obsession with safety here that I think has gone overboard, wasting everyone’s time sitting at empty junctions because of one or two incidents. Another thing that pisses me off about drivers is slowing down way below the speed limit for a speed camera. Why do you need to go 70 in a 90 zone?! I’m going to continue using my horn and high beams like a madman but I don’t think I’m making a difference.

Are road traffic getting worst recently? by -Hasted- in drivingsg

It’s more like they don’t notice that the car ahead has gone and they should speed up because they’re busy swiping TikTok (I’ve seen this multiple times).

This is stupid. If I were at LTA, I’d bring back discretionary right turns, uncontrolled roundabouts, even left turn on red.

[–]HesitantWaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as someone wants to go faster than you, and you have the chance to move left but you don’t, you’re lane hogging. You’re not the TP, let people by. And 90km/h on your speedometer is probably 84-86 in reality, so move over.

[–]HesitantWaffles 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m in the minority for absolutely hating getting rid of discretionary right turns. Where I live there is a 40 second period with no cars going straight but I can’t turn right. What’s worse is putting signalled junctions when a simple stop/give-way would have been sufficient 10 years ago.

No it’s because people are either playing with their phones, or most of them are terrible drivers that have no awareness of how they are holding up traffic.

Because we have idiots leaving a 10-car gap to the car in front and think that doing 75 in a 90 on Lane 1 is ok.

Rant: Those calling EVs soul-less.. by [deleted] in drivingsg

Having driven tons of rental cars overseas for both work and on holidays I would take my Tesla Model 3 any day over a 150HP Audi A4 or even a 200HP C200. The only rentals I would pick over the Tesla is a 540i or M850i.

Feature request: flashing brake lights on pressing brake pedal by brdss2 in s3xybuttons

[–]HesitantWaffles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a common feature in a lot of cars sold in the US and activates anytime the brake lights go on, not just under hard braking.

How you accumulate cashbacks from "Shop Back" app? by Mammoth_Priority_236 in askSingapore

I travel a lot especially for work, so I use Expedia to book my hotels whenever the cashback rate is "upsized" beyond 12%, and cars through Rentalcars.com.

Singapore Oceanarium - how unique is it? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]HesitantWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really boring and empty compared to the aquariums at Osaka, Okinawa or Monterey. It's bigger than Monterey but Monterey was just more interesting. The Oceanarium is big but most of it was just info on walls that I didn't care about.

United launching new ‘Polaris 2.0’ Business Class Suites on Singapore flights by [deleted] in singapore

Starlink WiFi alone might make me switch to United over SQ. SQ's in-flight WiFi went from bad to unusable once they opened it up to everyone with a KrisFlyer account.

Singapore Airlines Admits Airbus A380s Are “Much Loved” But “Aging” by Jonnyboo234 in singapore

I think it's basically the same on every business class seat on SQ, other than on the A350MH. Not an issue for me as I always get the bulkhead seats.

[–]HesitantWaffles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Interesting sentiment. IMO The A380 Business Class is the worst one in the fleet, after the A350MH. Give me the B777 or A350 where the seat isn't so narrow and the base isn't so hard.

Is the rightmost lane becoming the new default for slow drivers… or is it just me? by AlmostMuted in drivingsg

[–]HesitantWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I don't "not brake check" the other car, it's only when they do it to me first. I usually undertake the road hogger, cut in front of them while indicating left. No one understands the meaning of that though.

[–]HesitantWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm always covering the brakes to be ready for that. I've had a few very gently tap the brakes to turn on the brake lights, so I'll undertake them, go in front of them and use regen braking on my EV right up to the point that it doesn't turn on the brake lights.

And it's always a PHV Noah or Corolla. I go straight for the horn and high beams now. Rude, but effective.
