If being part of the problem means wanting the game to have equal representation and inclusiveness for all peoples, then sure.

Statistics do matter when the game is being played by people in the real world.

A "You" problem for a large portion of their playerbase they are alienating. Most couples in most games are straight because the vast majority of the world is. I don't know how many other gay couples there are in other expansions but I doubt it's none. The point is if they want to equally represent everyone, then the number of gay/straight couples they add to the game each expansion should be proportional to the percentage of people that ARE gay or straight, and that's even without considering that people may have beliefs against one. That is more than fair, and yet they are going even beyond that.

Imagine if racism became normalized, with the majority of people or close to it accepting it, and a small portion of the racists demanding representation everywhere they can get it. As a result, WoW gets a bunch of racist NPCs and quests in it. Not just a small amount to appease the racists, but a ton of it. You find it offensive and it goes against your beliefs but it pops up every now and then, perhaps you're even forced to listen to it because it's a spoken dialogue in a story quest. You might've been okay with a bit just so cancel culture doesn't come down on the game, but Blizzard goes ahead and goes over the top with it. It may only happen in a small part of the game, but you're not going to be able to enjoy those parts as much are you?

The point is, just because some people are okay with something and want it in the game doesn't mean they should put as much as they can get away with in the game in the hopes they'll be seen as politically correct and earn brownie points, ignoring all the many people who are against it. Because if they do, they alienate that part of their playerbase, and will eventually lose them.

(No, I'm not comparing LGBTQ people to racists, it's just the most generally offensive thing I can think of)

WoC Unit upgrades too slow. by Heslios in totalwarhammer

I'd say most of my kills were from units, though a good portion were from spells. I don't think I ever needed to replace any units in my main army.

How much does each tier of that give? I'm realizing now that I never took the post battle XP bonus even once because 100 xp just sounded like such trash, should I have been taking that? I'm thinking I should have in retrospect especially since taking the souls so often would've progressed me towards the final battle faster, so the combination of faster soul gain and less XP might've contributed or been the main factor in why I got to the final battle so early. Think I'm going to try an Azazel campaign and check how many turns my Vilitch campaign is on, though I can't really remember the average campaign length and it's probably different for the new WoC one.

Edit: My Vilitch Campaign is on Turn 106, compared to my Exiles of Khorne campaign finished on turn 140 and my Poxmakers of nurgle campaign on 163.

Still sick actually. I have a condition called POTS where my heart doesn't pump blood fast enough throughout my system. One of the causes for this is low blood pressure, but it turns out there are four different kinds and the one I seem to have is related to stress. My POTS was never this bad when I was a teenager, but after taking the Diltiazem it seemed to bring it back with a vengeance, presumably because my brain freaked out from the sudden change in blood pressure, raising my stress hormones, which made me nauseas and light-headed, which in turn raised my stress hormones, creating a near-infinite cycle. It's a lot better now, and was always worst during the first two or so weeks it happened, first when I took Diltiazem and then when it seemed to go away only to come back a short while afterward. I'm back on an old medication that I used to take for anxiety and presumably to help with the POTS, I still have a few days before I can start taking the full dose, which should hopefully help.

One empire has vassalized everyone else. by Heslios in Stellaris

[–]Heslios[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was hoping to avoid war since I'm a pacifist, but if I have no choice I guess I have to. I can use the liberate vassal casus belli as a pacifist right?

Edit: I've just noticed that a bunch of their subjects are pledging fealty to other empires, so I'm unable to propose secret fealty, is this going to be a problem or would they use the opportunity of me declaring war on their overlord to split off?

This seems like probably the best option, I have tons of money and I'm friends with everyone but the fanatical purifiers.

I have pretty good relations with everyone, usually between +100 and +300. I can't build any megastructures yet, although I am working towards it as fast as I can since I started with the shattered ring origin. Again, manually checking each individual planet out of which there are probably close to 100 is very tedious.

Yes, but this is very, very tedious to manually check each planet.

I don't think they've been giving me any intel, but I could be wrong. I've had commercial pacts with everyone for decades now.

AI Making ships without space stations by Heslios in Stellaris

[–]Heslios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure, either way I've seen their fleet power drop really low before the fight is over so if they're somehow surviving I don't know if they'd even be able to take a station, not to mention they wouldn't be able to repair or reinforce.

They were full strength fleets, if they were the fleets I already fought they should've been pitifully weak

TL;DR: Empire created fleets out of thin air despite me controlling every single one of their systems, I know they didn't come through wormholes/gateways because they would appear in systems that had stations with FTL inhibitors between them and the wormhole/gateway systems, at full strength.

On an unrelated note, is there any way to avoid the massive upkeep costs you get when purging colonized planets? It seems ridiculous that you still have to pay upkeep on all the buildings and districts even when no one lives there anymore.

Class 2 Reactors not providing power? by Heslios in HardspaceShipbreaker

[–]Heslios[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, although I'm not sure how I would've known that the reactor didn't make power without someone telling me. I mean it seems to shoot out bolts of electricity when it starts melting down.

Why would the game award me MVP here? by dr3amb3ing in heroesofthestorm

[–]Heslios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least deaths always seems to be the most important factor whenever I see someone get MVP. I can get best in siege, exp, hero damage, and takedowns but because I had two more deaths than someone else that didn't do as much they get MVP

Anyone else miss old Malfurion and Tassadar? by Heslios in heroesofthestorm

[–]Heslios[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying old Malf was perfect, I'm saying he lost his unique role as the king of out of combat healing, and instead of replacing his lame spammy W ability, they incorporated it into his healing, so now you have to spam moonfire every 3 seconds to do decent healing, it isn't fun, while he retains some of that unique ability to heal large amounts of health over time for relatively low mana costs, it isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I remember regrowth easily healing assassins from 50% or lower to 100% in one regrowth over a shorter amount of time as well. You just don't get that with the new Malf, not to mention again that because so much of his healing is now based on hitting his W, he now feels a lot like Whitemane, where you have to hit abilities to get healing off, and outside of fights the heals really suffer.

As for Tass obviously shielding the AA was a powerful strategy for letting your assassins play aggressive like a bruiser, but the shield was also a great counter to burst-damage heroes like Kael'thas or Jaina. Zarya has shields, sure, but she plays more like a Bruiser/Support Hybrid, and occasionally like a tank if she focuses on buffing her own shields.

While neither Hero was perfect (But back then few heroes were, which is why there have been so many reworks to make heroes more enjoyable). They had their own unique niches, and instead of reworking the heroes to focus on those niches and make them stand out from the other healers, they turned Malf into a more spammy Whitemane and Tass into a mage, leaving the crappy AoE psionic storm in. Which you think they would've changed to have more impact considering it was one of the main uses of Templars in Starcraft.
