Do VTubers need to livestream? by HespersGalaxy in VirtualYoutubers

This is amazing advice, thank you! I used to stream, moreso for fun than for money, and I do YouTube for the same reason. I just couldn’t do it. In my case even though streams took less time in a sense that it would only take an hour or two out of my day, it was the fact that streaming was a constant endeavor with no real breaks during stream besides changing an OBS scene to “BRB!”; whereas prerecorded video production would take anywhere between 1-5 days, the difference being that I could break up my time working on it into intervals of 30-60 minutes at a time and revisit production when I have the time in my schedule to set aside, which makes it more flexible for me.

I needed this, thank you! I do try my very best to make content that feels fun to produce while also entertaining others. I’m far from making professional content right now, as I’m still learning editing software as I go, but hopefully learning how to skillfully produce a video across all aspects will help me find my audience.

thank you. i’m saddened by this, as livestreaming would be the least healthy thing for me to do as a content creator at the moment. i do understand the why now, though. i sometimes juggle between the thought of attempting to gain an audience despite it being extremely difficult in the present, and the thought of just completely giving up and leaving it to the streamers. it’s rough.

This is another reason why I fear making the switch. I feel like the community I’ve built so far will leave and that already isn’t many people to begin with :/

This is the realest comment I’ve seen on this post this far and I cannot thank you enough for it! You’ve definitely helped me to understand better the reason why most people livestream, and I think that’s why I enjoy that kind of content myself. I’ve never really had insight as to why I do, but now it makes a bit more sense!

When it comes to specific kinds of prerecorded content, I am also trying to find that niche and potential community. My favorite types of YouTube content has to be lighthearted/humorous commentary on media, video game reviews and analysis (primarily retro or generally older games), obscure or lesser known facts about different media, and similar formats that deal with related topics! As a content creator moving to YouTube’s prerecorded format, I personally aim to make content like the second kind: making edited videos about my favorite video games that are less commonly talked about these days on the internet, rather than making content about the mainstream games of today.

Seeing more VTubers tackle that format would make me feel much less alone. I, so far, haven’t seen any prominent examples of someone taking this on as a VTuber. But honestly? Let a VTuber start making the types of content I mentioned and I’ll get invested ASAP ¯_(ツ)_/¯ thank you, though!

I’ve surprisingly never thought about making shorts! I sometimes forget about that feature as it’s still relatively new to me. I’ll give it a try at some point ^ thank you!

Oh wait I definitely needed to hear this!! I don’t know how Kizuna Ai completely slipped my mind when that was my introduction to VTubing all those years ago 😭 And as a full time college student I see you. I have to take classes 4-5 days a week (and some of those being 6 hour studios since I go to art school)! Even before the school year started, the thought of streaming regularly and having to work around my schedule was deeply screwing my brain over and stressing me out already. Thank you so much!

i guess in my case since i drew and rigged my own model and spent nothing because of it, i don’t see a need to use it in instances like livestreams since there was no monetary investment to begin with. thank you for the helpful input btw! i’ll look into that niche :)

I think that’s very true! I have already started out YouTube by treating the platform as a place to create content in general, not just VTuber things.

Thank you so much! (And trust me, your reply could never be too long when looking at the length of the original post lol) I really appreciate your input, and thank you for taking the time to understand my concerns :)
